all that seems to have happened is that the omain name has expired, so all the owenr has to do is renew the domain subscription within 30 days and it will work again.

i think.

There's a lot of stuff though (more than V-Flyer) someones put some £££ in so its a shame if its not just a tech problem

Not been able to get to the forums for over a week now. At the home page, I get:
http://www.vsfan.org coming soon!
This page is parked FREE at GoDaddy.com!

Doing a domain name lookup for vsfan.org, I get:
No match for domain "VSFAN.ORG".

So, as Blythy says, the domain could just have expired and not been renewed yet - though I was sure that expired domain names are still listed in the whois database for sometime after the expiry date [?]

Cheers

Did you notice the line:
Last Updated On:28-Jul-2004 08:56:51 UTC

Does that mean some update was done to the domain record last week, which may have (accidentally?) taken it down?

Richard

I think the domain expired sometime last week (say monday) the guy who runs it will have renewed the domain for 3 years last wednesday, it just seems that the DNS servers are a bit slow with the updates (it can happen) so i'd be patient for a bit, then in a couple of weeks, if nothings happened, buy the merchandise, and take it to the antiques roadshow when you're 70 ;)

I thought about this a little more, when I go back to http://www.vsfan.org/forums, it's a "404 - Page not found" error - not a DNS or Domain expiry problem at all. Plus, if DNS wasn't working at all, then the homepage wouldn't even resolve to the GoDaddy page.

My guess is one of the following:
1. If he's currently hosted with GoDaddy, they might've screwed up and lost his site data
2. If he's currently hosted with GoDaddy, he's removed the site himself
3. He's switched hosting companies to GoDaddy and he hasn't put the site up at the new server yet

Cheers
