Interesting article in Sunday Times Travel this week comparing JEtblue and Virgin America. Havent found it online but a brief overview:

Jetblue prefered due to larger route network (I felt it was unfair to mention this as after all B6 has been around a good 7 years and VX a good three months)
Y class product (IFE etc) on VX was the best Y product on any carrier in the world
Legroom on B6 a lot better

Overall they said:
[list]If had to fly FIrst on any carrier domestically in US it would be VX
Would select VX despite legroom and once they get a few more routes opened up
On routes which the two carriers compete- VX would be selected

I also read the article but came away with a few different conclusions:

Y class product (IFE etc) on VX was the best Y product on any carrier in the world

I think the point trying to be put across was that it was the best economy IFE that the author had seen.

If had to fly First on any carrier domestically in US it would be VX

I think the point here was that if money was no object, then between the 2 carriers the author would travel VX first.

On routes which the two carriers compete- VX would be selected

Does he say that? My impression was that the author concluded that he would be happy to travel both again.

Well clearly highlights how two readers can have different views.

Of course in my OP the views were that of the authors and not a general view.
