Hello everyone,
I am going to Florida next month and am now looking for the best rate at wich to change my money, and i remember a few weeks ago there was a topic on this subject and there was a website that gave an extremely good exchange rate and was just wondering what it was?

Also if anyone knows where there are some good rates that i could find please let me know!

Thanks a lot!!

One of the best rates around is at Marks and spencer. It is hard to find a better rate unless you are chaning over £25K when you can get a dealers rate from your bank.

Have a great trip

Hi KCDavis,

Welcome to V-flyer! I always use Travelex online (http://www.travelex.com) they give you the best rate and you can order online and pick up at the terminal, however I would allow an extra 10-15mins as the process can take a fair while.

Have a great trip and look forward to reading you TR!

With Travelex, make sure you book around 2 days before you travel. They have a cut off which is around 24 hours beforehand for commission free transactions. I have always found them the most competative.

Also, the best time to order your money to get the best rate is a Wednesday. I used to work in a Foreign Exchange and that is always the best day to get the better rate. Friday's and Monday's are the worse day. Just thought I'd let you know if you can do it on that day.

I am not totally sure, but the reasoning I think behind it is that it is often a slow day and to encourage people to buy in advance. Most people leave it to the last minute and get caught by bad rates and commission charges.

If you live in London use a 'hole in the wall' place, they make most of their money on tourists changing into sterling, and sell the foreign notes more cheaply to avoid wholesaling them.

I live in London and use this lot: http://www.cecltd.com/index.asp. Bit rough and ready, but great rates (2.02 on Friday, local travel agents were offering 1.96).

The problem I have suffered with Travelex is the additional £4.50 visa fee. Need to do the math to see if its still worth while.

appreciate the mention john

The only thing to add, is that it is often best to visit the bank to get cash prior to going to the places that offer the best rates - thereby saving the Card Transaction fee
