Aircraft boarding music

Now heres a daft one for the new year! Who choses the 'boarding music' for airlines (esp VS who seem to be on the stilton side of cheesy at the moment!)? Everytime I board an aircraft - the vague sound of musak filters around the cabin - more often than not something like 'panpipe moods'. Is someone actually paid to sit there, listen to options available and then declare 'This is the one!'?!?!? [:w]

Perhaps the theme from Rawhide is a good choice.

Very true, noticed that the crew are even resorting to taping ipod ear phones to a PA handset, to kill the rubbish boarding music )

I guess they do get someone to come up with a selection of stuff that's easy on the ears.

in 2002 we were returning from SFO and they were playing Dido's White Flag which includes the line [I will go down with this ship] Rosies still not got over it and listens intently every time we board!!!

I never pay much attention to boarding music actually but I say bring back those red blobs you used to get on all the IFE screens during boarding [:p]

You can get a DVD with the full thing, but unfortunately they won't ship to US addresses, I've tried..and failed. [:(]

Think that's out of date - I definitely heard some Sugababes while I was settling in for my flight yesterday.

hey guys and girls, last time i flew was the 2nd and then the 8th we had xmas music which so needs to be got rid of now. i would lov to have the sugar babes. on my last vegas although not really by the book we played Elvis, viva Las Vegas, from my phone (in flight mode) while we were securing to land, it went down an absolute storm!! as you can imagine. Also have done the muppet show on an Orlando with the same effect. Although thiese are very rare occurences, as crew one must read the passenger mood on the flight and also have the FSM ok. but i believe its using our personalities, which is why we are there.
