Just noticed that you can now leave your laptops in your bag when going through security. I'd not read about this change before, was it mentioned on here and I missed it?

All the signage states that this change has been in effect since 7th January, in line with the new baggage rules at most airports. I'm wondering if the 'leave laptop in bag' is now in effect at all airports or just those BAA airports allowed to return to the previous baggage rules?

There was also no shoe carnival today at T1 [:D]

Thanks,
Sarah

Yes - posted a comment in another thread last week so not obvious. Laptops in bags certainly at T3 LHR.

At Stansted and Edinburgh it's still the case that laptops have to come out of bags.

Have other airports upgraded their scanning machines ? Toward the end of last year at Glasgow of the two queues they had one where the laptops had to come out, and one where the laptop could remain in the bag. Staff managing the queues said that the latter was because a new scanner was in place.

I flew through LHR T1 on Jan 7th, and laptops stayed in then. Had to take my shoes off though, but my colleague who checked in 15 mins later was allowed to keep his on.

Good job it was a Monday, my socks were still clean & fresh. Could have been a different story come Thursday. [:D]

I've not had to remove shoes at T1 at all in 3007, nor at T4 the other week. Only appears to be a regular thing at T3.

Looking into the future, Mark?

I've never had to remove my shoes in T1 either but some people remove them voluntarily
