Hiya Donna and welcome to V-Flyer... as to what is Wcl the clue is at the top

Premium Economy (Wcl)

As to whether upgrading your trip in November was worth it, well in Nov 07 then you tell us with a trip report, if Nov 08 then for Sydney I'd say definitely UNLESS the flight will be empty in Y and you can get 4 seats together down the back.

Thanks Decker,
We are travelling in Nov 08. We booked orig in econ for 2 adults £1700, but paid more than to upgrade, another £1900! Looking at photos posted, doesnt appear to be that much bigger.
I thought that wcl was a type of seat. I realise now, its just the upgraded pe. Any more room than the last PE? Have flown PE a long time ago in 2000.
Also why do you describe economy as 'Y'??

Y is the fare code used for a fully flexible Economy ticket and it is often used as an abbreviation when talking about Economy. There is a full list of abbreviation used in the section listed on the left hand side of the site.

To see what advantages W has over Y have a look at the VS website, where it lists all the extras, the main advantage obviously is the extra leg room, which is still at 38', the same before the new seat was installed.

Just to expand on Neil's post...you will see 3 main codes being used on here..

Y is economy
W is Premium Economy
J is Upper Class

Also if you point your cursor over the letter it will tell you what they mean.
