I've just had a very random thought about flying club. Am I correct in thinking that there is no option of a Joint Flying club account? I know if you are Gold you can apply for a Supplementary Silver Card for someone at the same address as you, and you can spend their miles if you want but is that it?

Or is it possible to combine your miles when making a booking or is that considered transferring them? For example Partner A has 60,000 miles but Parter B has 100,000 miles. If they wanted to book a return UC reward flight would they be able to combine their miles together to give 80,000 each?

Just a thought before bed time. For those of you who remember The Waltons:

We have recently returned from this trip LHR-SFO LAX-LHR Upper Class both legs.

When we checked availability and prices we were struggling to get a good price and spoke to flying club several times. During one of the conversations with Flying Club we enquired about booking UC reward tickets for 80k each, however we were told that we couldn't combine our miles. I had 90k+ and hubby had 70k+

A few years ago, I remember booking PE and upgrading to UC with miles, and at the time we didn't have enough miles but they let us go "into the red" on our FC account (since we were going to earn those miles for the PE part of our journey).

For info, on our last trip, we managed to book PE and use 20k miles each to upgrade to UC LHR-SFO and then booked D Class LAX-LHR and we paid a little bit less than we usually do with Z Class tickets.

Cheers

Hi,

To follow on from the original question... My other half and I are booked on a VS flight, and through Flight management on the website it asks for our Frequent Flyer numbers.

Since I have the Texaco WEOU card, and a VS credit card, my miles will always be higher than hers... would it make sense to put my number in both fields on the flight booking, or will it not let me get away with that? Since all the miles going into one account seems to make far more sense!?

Hi Stuart,

You cant add her FF number to your flight bookings I dont think..
The same applies to the Credit card.
I believe however that weou card accepts any valid FF number..

Also it dosnt really matter which FF pot they go in as although you cant transfer your miles - you can spend them on your partner or anyone else for that matter!

I guess if your AU you could argue your wasting TP, but in terms of miles it doesnt matter!

FCCC Card is registered to one FC account when you apply, if you want to channel miles into 2 different account you need 2 FCCC card accounts. It works fine you and partner each have 2 cards just spend on the one registered to the account that needs the miles.Only down side is it costs 2 x £80.

With reward bookings the miles can be split but have to be for whole sectors ie 75%/25% payment.

I am thinking about upgrading to UCS from PE on my next flight. But at the moment I only have 17k miles on the clock, and I need 20k. Of course as soon as I fly i will pick up another 8k miles, which will put me back in the black.

The question is: Do VA allow to run up a debit balance on your FC Card, particularly if you are going to "pay them back" immediately?

This area is grey as it depends on various factors including who you talk to at FC..

I know that doesnt really help you but since your only 3k under and will earn 8k I'd give VS FC a call and plead your case!

I once went 18K under but I did book a UC and PE return at the same time!!

O/D's are uncommon but not unheard of..
