Just curious and couldn't find this information in any of the usual places.

VBUG was delivered a year ago and subsequent deliveries were put on hold for a while. Does anyone know when the remainder of the order is now due - For what it's worth Wikipedia 'suggests' 6 in 2008/9 so I'm assuming towards the end of the year and across 2009?

Also did VYOU ever get renamed or is it still bearing the original moniker - I thought this was for one year only.

Well sort of. [|)]

I guess I was wondering if anyone could give better information than included in the original question.

Oh well - can't blame me for asking.

Thanks MMD

Is anyone else able to take this up?

Well according to this picture G-VYOU is still Emmeline Heaney.

Now Jethros fleet listing website is saying that the first of the remaining 346's will arrive htis year with the last one turning up in 2010. But according to a number of other sources, the current production line is taken by a/c going to Sonair, Kingfisher and Finnair. There are only 3 a340's on the line at the moment. So I guess we can conclude that it wont be at least for the first half of this year.

I think the honest answer is that VS do not know themselves.

The orders were deferred. AFAIK this means that when VS want them they just give the green light and they arrive some months later. I personally would not be surprised if we see the order slip down the books and eventually canceled.

You have to remember that when VS placed its order it was the launch customer for the type and '4 engines 4 long haul' was the company 'policy'. Now we have the 787 on order and given all the green hype that is around and rising fuel costs etc, the 787 all of a sudden looks like a better deal. I think the relationship with Airbus, due to 346 hiccups and the 380, is currently not as good as it once was.

While VS could do with new aircraft, after all they cant currently really expand in anyway without extra metal, given how up and down the industry is at the moment and with the full force of Open Skies to come perhaps VS is playing the best game (as BD are doing) by just waiting.

Looking at Airbus A330/A340 info up to MSN/Line No 989 there are no planned A340's for VS. 2 aircraft ordered for VS (MSN846/G-VJAM & MSN848/G-VLUV) are now destined for Lufthansa as D-AIHT & D-AIHU.
