A friend of mine works at Toronto Airport and told me that rumours are very strong that Virgin is returning to Toronto again. I know I have read that Toronto is on the wish list, but apparently I'm told these rumours are from "reliable sources."
Is there anyone out there that can comment? I hope this is true.

Cheers

This must be what he is talking about.

Looking forward to seeing Virgin return to YYZ!

Do think this this route could be part of Virgin America? i.e. a connecting flight from BOS, JFK or NWK (sorry I forgot the code for Newark)

It would make sense as many of the domestic carriers do this.

Really...

What he has heard is that it is heavy gates they are looking at.

Plus I think Toronto, being the 5th largest metropolitan area in North America (behind Mexico City, NYC, LA, and Chicago) is more than big enough to warrant full Virgin travel. And it would not make sence for a new airline to travel between Toronto and the New York area as it is more than well served with, Air Canada, Continental, American, Delta, Jets Go, WestJet, CanJet etc. all flying muliple daily flights to NYC.

I have been told that Virgin did very well before 9/11 on the Toronto flights. I have been told by travel officials that people after 3 years are still asking about Virgin from Toronto to London.

That says two things: 1) Virgin is a good airline
2) That there is more than enough demand for
the service

Being the 5th largets met area in US doesnt mean VS success on the route- look at the disaster that was LHR-ORD. I heard that VS were interested too although it did look like it wouldnt happen until DXB was started. I doubt YYZ will start for at least another year- lack of a/c being the problem hence why they dont start LHR-DXB. Loads were good on this route just 9/11 buggered it all up sadly! So yes YYZ could well be back but not until we get the extra capacitiy needed.
