Hello

I am planning to use some miles to fly UC from Heathrow to JFK. I need to fly from GLA to LHR.

How do I do this (if possible) using miles for the VS leg and money for the BMI part but have my luggage checked through?

Thanks in advance

Put simply, call Flying Club. They'll book both flights for you on the same PNR so that you can interline your bags from GLA to JFK.

Thanks,

But be warned - an interline ticket is likely to be significantly higher than the one you *may* be able to buy directly with bmi...

Interlining also means that as they are on the same ticket the airlines have the responsibility to look after you in case of delays or cancellations to your first flight.
If you are on two separate tickets then if you miss your BMI flight then VS has no obligation to put you on another flight if you check in late.
If it is all on one ticket then if there is a problem with the BMI flight VS has to put you on the next available flight or make alternative arrangements for you. This can cost them a lot more so the cost for the interlined ticket is greater than the sum of the two parts.

A GLA - LHR add on can be about GBP 70 each way plus tax, a huge amount more than if you were to buy the separate ticket.

Hi

Thanks for all the input. I will try phoning FC tomorrow and see what they can do.

eejp1007, do you mean that the ticket from GLA would cost £140+Tax (approximately), or is that in addition to the charge made by BMi?

Thanks

..and IME, it's far better to NOT interline baggage at Heathrow. Not only does more baggage go missing this way (anecdotally) but transferring through Flights Connections is a real pain. Collecting your bag, and walking through the tunnel to T3 is easy and quick. I did it today.

Absolutely.

The only problem is I am having some surgery in NYC and will be in no way able to push the trolley or walk between T3 and T1!

With the company I use, the add-on cost £60 each way and the extra tax was about £20 so a total of £140 extra to include the return flights from GLA to LHR. This was in Q class on BD and I presume included a little bit of a mark up on the nett prices.

I was thinking that if you would like to fly me out to NYC to accompany you back and help you with your bags in the airports, I would probably say yes!! Only if it was UC of course though...

Have you spoken to FC yet?

smw.

Without prying, if you are having surgery, you may need to check with VS to see if they will accept you on-board afterwards. You may need to get a certificate from the doctor saying you are fit.

Hi

Thanks for all the help. I was able to book a ticket from GLA to JFK. Only problem is that BD had only Business Class tickets available via VS. Still, it means our baggage is (theoretically) transferred for us.
