Hi all

Hope you can give me some advice flying Upper to Syd in October and would like a seat where I don't have to strain my neck to look out of the window. Have looked at seat map and row 10A seems like a good choice or is that me?

Any tips?

Also heard from VA you don't get access to the clubhouse in HKG on the way out or back - is that right?

If you are in UC all the way from SYD to LHR (or vice versa) then you do get Clubhouse access. You will be advised on deplaning at HKG to follow a different route than those leaving at HKG and there will be staff there to direct you. Passengers used to be given stickers with 'Catch me if you can' on them if they were transiting and there were always people in the Clubhouse with these stickers attached.

If you look up any TRs on the LHR-SYD route in UC they will confirm this.

Welcome to V-Flyer [:)]

The seat ratings page will give you a good insight to members thoughts on seats. You'll be on an A346 to SYD and either the A or K side will be good seats if you want to look out of the window. 10A has the 'wall' infront of it so is a little more private and a good choice if you want to catch up on some sleep, as are the low numbered K seats, my personal favourite.

Have a great trip to SYD!

Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks Honeylamb - reason for my asking about Clubhouse at HKG was that VA Bookings told me that I wouldn't get access as 'there isn't enough time'?!?

I've done this trip a few times and have always had a good hour in the clubhouse on the way back. Certainly the flight times allow for this.

You have no option but to de-plane both on the outward amd inbound journey (and take all your hand baggage with you). The layover is only about an hour or so but is enough time to get to the CH, have a shower(recommended) and grab a mojito[:)]. The staff in the HKG CH are very helpful.
I'd second Highflyer's suggestion of the low numbered K seats too (3,4,5).

A video clip of the HKG Clubhouse. The showers are just to the left of the business area near the entrance

Like I said there's time for a shower and a mojito [:w]FWIW hit the shower as early as you can.It can get quite busy in there (and warm).

Great video clip

Shower and a mojito sounds just like the pick me up I'll be needing after my first leg :O)

And if you're quick in the shower you might manage another mojito (or two[:w])

If you have a feeder cup or sports bottle, you can take your second mojito into the shower with you, giving you time for a third when you get out. Tsk, amateurs...

I had the pleasure of flying UC to Syd in Jan of this year. My seat there and back was 10A, and you have a great window position. I liked the seat position as it has it's privacy, and it's not too far a hike to the bar! [:D]

HKG CH is very nice for the short time you will have there. Didn't take advantage of the shower on the way to Syd, but did on the way back and still had time for 2 Bloody Marys.

Enjoy the trip, it was my 1st UC trip with VS and what an introduction!
