I've not seen an MCO a/c specifically but having travelled for many years in Y, and generally at the rear of the cabin, I know what you mean.

Interesting conclusion to this one ..... LAX - LHR flight was absolutly spotless. Now how come they manage it on that route and not on the LGW routes. That really doesnt make sence!

Sorry HL, but I disagree with that.
It's not the sole responsibility of just pax to report defects or other cabin issues. VS do have a quality assurance department, so why arn't there more checks in place during turn arounds etc? Dont the crew check cabins before flights as well?

James, I didn't say it was the sole responsibility of just pax to report issues but some responsibility if they notice things awry. Yes, I agree there should be more checks but perhaps it needs to be highlighted that more should be in place and one of the ways is passengers' complaints.

I'd also say that passengers should be seeking to minimise the amount of litter and general cr*p that they leave in and around their seats.

P'raps it is a generation thing. I was 'dragged up' by my parents to respect other people's space and not to drop litter. Rather, I was encouraged to take my litter home and dump it in the bin (or recycling receptable these days). Therefore, I wouldn't dream about chucking unwanted bits around on the floor of an aeroplane. [:D] Rather I tend to keep all the detritus together and drop it in the bag when CC come around touting for rubbish. Incidentally, (and I am talking primarily about the back of the aeroplane now) other than bits and pieces off the meal tray, and perhaps empty water bottles, where does all the rubbish come from [:?]

Treelo, I'm with you - I police my own seat before deplaning and try to leave it cleaner than I found it.

I'm also with Honey Lamb - if we just sit there and stew in our juices about aircraft cleanliness, we're only compounding our own problems. Speak up, people, in a constructive way, to cabin crew! That said, I see mitchja's point, as well, that VS QC need to play their leading role.

FWIW, my UCS experiences have been generally clean, aside from the Mysterious Red Marks (TM) that others have reported.

Then, my bon voyageur, you really should wear clean under garments!

When I were but a nipper littering was a cause of opprobrium of the degree nowadays visited on those who actively choose to fly Ryanair.

Polythene wrapping from blankets, opened and discarded amenity kits, the snacks that people load up on before they fly (as the only thing that little Tom eats is guava flavoured Pringles), copies of Heat and Hello! and newspapers (a particular problem on Sundays...).

You do see quite a lot of pax eating their own snacks now, especially in Y on longer VS flights. I guess they know from experience that you dont get enough food from VS. I now take snacks when flying Y but I do make sure I dispose of the packaging correctly.

James

I have to admit that so do we when we fly with our son as he won't touch airline food. He has a different attitude towards airline alchohol.
