Any insiders know if VS is going to be extending the dates of it's sale in the near future. I need to fly to MIA at the end of Oct. BA sale (which ends today ) is coming out at 200 less than VS (this will be a trip in economy unfortunately).Anybody know anything before I bung BA my cash?
Thanks

I have no inside info, but recently the VS sale has been a bit of a rolling event. Not quite up to DFS standards, but almost as soon as one ends, another has been announced.

Having said that, there is no guarantee that a particular route, date or class will be included in the next sale.

IMHO, if there is a flight with a carrier that you are happy with at a good price, I would be tempted to grab it; unless tier points are important to you.

Despite the conference in Saudi, oil price rises show no signs of abating, so one would assume that fuel surcharges for new bookings will continue to rise in the near future.

It is a gamble, whatever you decide. Good luck. [8D]

I have been like a hawk keeping an eye out for sale fares in the last 3 months. There have been sales one after another. Like NYC sale just been released yesterday which the previous sale ended only 3 weeks ago. However I have been gambling on it and I am very flexible. If you are not so flexible then I guess you should just go for the BA flight and don't look back on the VS fares [:p]

Just booked my flight but ended up with AA in the end (they were significantly cheaper than BA and almost half the price of VS currently). Economy is economy regardless, so the less I spend the better.

dragonlady - it is unbelievable how VS manage to charge almost double on the same route for the same dates.

But however they're sometimes miles cheaper! Like Nick says it's a bit like the DFS sale (combined with the lottery)!!I'm not complaining - both the BA and AA sale fares ended at midnight and are now much the same as the VS fares for the dates I've booked (well both are more actually).Bottom line is I've a confirmed ticket on a direct flight for a reasonable price.Granted it's not with VS but that's life[:)].
