I've read the FAQ, and I think I know the answer, but I want to check. My silver renewal just happened, and I have until July 31st 2009 to renew. From my plans for that that period, I will get 9 tier points.

Since I originally gained silver, I gained 19 tier points. The first 3 over 10 were in April, the other six in June. Am I right think that the 6 from June, combined with the 9 from the following months, gets me to 15, and so means I will still gain silver, albeit under the 'normal' rule, rather than the renewal rule?

Do you have the dates of when you earned the tier points? The points you earned previously are only valid for 12 months, so if you earned them in early June 07 then they'll 'expire' in early June '08. If you can provide the actual dates of earning it would be helpful.

Thanks,
Sarah

It was 10th June and 25th June. I thought points were ordinarily valid for thirteen months?

Sorry bit lost here.

If you have just renewed Silver, then you need to get another 10 from date of renewal to renew.

The phrasing of my question isn't entirely eloquent, I'm aware: I have the thought process in my head spot on, but trying to turn the thoughts into writing is rather difficult for some strange reason.

I know you need ten points to renew silver - but to gain silver from stratch, you need 15 points in thirteen months. At the date my silver expire, I will have 15 points from the prior thirteen months, even though I won't have ten points in twelve months. My question is, are those 15 points enough?

Ahh I think I understand the confusion now. Points have different life values depending if they are being used to renew a tier for another year, or to move up a tier.

If it's your first renewal year of Silver you will between 12 and 13 months to get the additional 10 you need to requalify - depends on the day that you took the flight that passed you the 15Tp mark. So say you had 14TP as a Red, and took a Econ flight on 14th July 2008(therefore passing 15TP), you would then have from 15th July 2008 until 31st July 2009 to get 10 more TP to renew. The following year, it's a clear 13 months (as long as you got 10+ to requalify) so it would be then 10 needed between 1st August 2009 and 31st August 2010.

Make sense?

This full chartmay help.

Thanks,
Richard

Yes, it does, thank you. I just wish now I'd taken my June 25th flight on July 1st!
