Hi all,
Wondering if there are any VH guru's out there who may be able to help me out with a question about accessing the 'manage my flight' section on the VS web page.
We are booked onto VS079 from MAN to UVF on the 1st Jan 09 in Y . We booked Virgin Holidays through a Reputable hight street travel agent. We were given a booking reference when we booked and this is the reference which is to be quoted when accessing the 'manage my flights' section of the VS web site. Now, this is where the problem occurs. When we attempt to log in with that number the systems returns an error message to the effect of 'number/booking ref not found'. Been onto VH and VS, VS say it is because VH have not released the tickets yet, VH says that they have released the e-tickets and that it shouldn't matter anyway as long as the number is correct, which it is.
Still have had no joy up to now and I sense that I am being passed from pillar to post a little. It almost appears as though nobody really knows how to solve the problem[:0]. Surely it can't be that difficult to solve can it? I Have flown VS a few times before and have always used the 'manage my flights' section and have really found it useful.
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions as to my next angle of attack? Any input will be gratefully received.

Regards,

NOC

You need to enter the V Hls booking ref which should be on your invoice somewhere (it's in the format: 111111/S08 where the last 2 digits are the season code ie Summer 08)

Trying entering this code into the VS web site but bear in mind this sometimes doesn't work. On entering this code on the first screen, the VS web site will then probably say it cant find anything and will ask you for more info including flight number and date of travel. Enter all the details again. You always have to enter a V Hols booking ref twice to bring up VS bookings as their system cant find a V Hols booking just from the V Hols booking ref.

Failing that, get the VS PNR from either your travel agent or by calling VS direct (this will a 6 digit code containing both numbers and letters - the same as you get when you book direct with VS).

Both the agent and VS will be able to provide this for you. VS will just need your date of travel, flight number and lead name. Calling VS is probably the easiest option actually to get this.

Thanks very much for the reply James. I have tried all of the above and still no success. The only thing that I can see different on my booking reference to your example is the number of digits. You have 6 digits(111111/s08) where as mine only shows 5. I have been onto VH and they have confirmed the reference as correct. VS are now saying that there might be a problem in general with accessing the 'manage my flight' section. Anyone else having problems?
In the meantime , I will keep pestering them!

Thanks again for the info James,
Regards

I've managed to get into my booking today.

I would definitely advise getting the PNR number. In the past I have had trouble with the VH booking reference, never with the PNR.

Have you rang Virgin, maybe the FC number rather than normal reservations, and specifically asked for your PNR number? There is no reason why Virgin won't give this to you, just give them your name, flight number, date etc so that they can locate the correct flight info.

If, yes and they still haven't given it to you, try again with a different agent, quite often a different CS agent will result in a totally different answer/info given.

Neil,
The problem is'nt in the number, as I have been given my PNR . Everyone I have spoken to (and I have spoken to alot of people) have confirmed the number to be correct. The problem lies with the VS site not recognizing it. Explanations from VS & VH have ranged from web site technical difficulties to 'oh you won't be able to access the system before 3 months prior to departure' ????
As previously mentioned, it seems as though no one can really put their finger on the 'problem' despite assistance from some very kind and helpful folk from VS , VH and v-flyer.
Oh hum never mind[:#]

Thanks again

All very strange, not sure why the VS site won't find your booking with your PNR.

All I can suggest then is to get VS to do any seat/meal requests etc that you wanted to do on the 'manage my booking' section for you over the phone, at least that way you are still able to get everything you wanted done even if you can't do it yourself.

I'm sure you've checked this but make sure your surname is entered exactly as on the booking when you go to amend flights(VH haven't mispelt your name have they). The site is fussy about that (although your first name is not so well checked)

Checked all spelling and even tried a few different ways of spelling my name with same results.

Thanks for that, although it is still nice to be able to access the system yourself.
