No you are not - all good points.

One thing that is shown through this thread though is there are cultural and behavioural differences in how people act. Take the boarding card one as an example, in the US it's just not done so some people may act through habit?

To bardgal aka Attractions Hostes (love it) I completely agree, especially with cabin luggage - what is the point going to the US when you know that by the time you emerge from immigration your luggage is often revolving on the carousel? And to the man who on my flight from MSP to EWR yesterday brought so much, then squeezed it on top of my beautiful soft leather LV bag, I hate you [}:)].

Just a little addition to the stroking and flirting thing. I have been on flights where the male passengers aren't averse to a little flirting themselves. Years ago, there was a businessman flying to MCO and he spent the entire flight flirting with the attendant and desperately trying to find out where they were staying. She, very wisely, said that she could never remember as the hotels always changed. Did he stop, no he did not, on and on he went. It was so bad I was itching to say something along the lines of 'give it up mate, she in not interested and from where I am sitting, for good reason'. I bit my tongue as I thought it would not be appropriate, and she had a dignity and grace that saw her through this situation.

On another flight, which I will never forget, and could have been some sort of Fawlty Towers in the air episode. Two older men were at the airport and looked as though they had spent two weeks on the beach without washing and drinking vast amounts of alcohol boarded our flight. Wow the smell was something else, and we were two rows back. People started boarding and the plane was filling up around us; there were all sorts of looks, then the whispering ensued. The rows around us decided to turn on those vent things above the seat and point then forwards to try and direct the smell back to the perpetrators!! This seemed to work with the mix of duty free perfume being squirted liberally. Anyway four couples all sat next to them and lasted between 20 seconds and a minute and all were moved. The last poor couple had no choice as there were no seats left; how they managed I will never know. This brings me to my point at last. Each time they went to the toilet, I noted the cubicle because there was no way I would use it afterwards. I must have dozed off as I went to spend a penny in what I thought was a safe toilet; I opened the door to find one of them sitting on the toilet (good if we are looking for the positives here) with his pants (not so good) and trousers around his ankles, sipping his whiskey on the rocks with his false teeth in the glass!! Ummm, nice. I just shut the door and said that was the limit. Dad asked what was wrong, and found the whole thing very amusing. Mum said that not being able to smell for once had its advantages!! The whole flight was very, very amusing and that was just a little snapshot.

Probably nothing directly to do with this topic, but still makes me laugh.

Claire, I did a Sideshow Bob shudder when I read the second part of your story! [:0][:0]

I'm guessing it was on a chartered or low-cost flight?

No, they were both VA Flights, the first one was MCO in Upper and the second was ANU in Economy!! Richard Branson was on the second one, he did an amazing job to keep his facial expressions level when he entered our part of the cabin; it was all so funny, like having live entertainment. Dad and I clocked them at the airport, had our first whiff and Dad said I bet they will be on our flight, they were and close to us too. When we landed, Mum was fiddling around getting her stuff together (as Mums do), Dad had already decided he did not want to be down wind of them all they way to the exit; so he gave Mum a sort of shuv into the aisle. She complained bitterly but it was too late, we all piled out and managed to get up wind. Dad retorted, 'it's alright for you, you can't smell at the moment'.

Ahh, happy days!?!

I am LOVING this tread.....SO FUNNY!

I have been travelling VS for many years. In the early days I was down the back [xx(] and now I travel in UC. On all my flights the FA have been amazing and they have a real passion for their job and it shows. Their have been some time that they have been slightly off (IFBT from NBO-LHR last year had a face like a bull dog chewing a wasp!) Man she was in a bad mood!

My complaints are:

Rude people and think it is their god given right to treat FA as their personal slaves!

Constant cut backs on ALL airlines, esp in UC (Dare I say Amenity Kit/IFBT)

WHY, WHY do FA insist on closing the blinds on a day flight??? It drives me mad!!! On my DXB and NBO they closed the blinds, I strolled back to Y and it was pitch black, if people want to sleep use the eye shades that is what they are there for and then I can look out the window with out getting told off.

What I do like, more often than not genuine friendliness of the crew, I think my best flight was LHR-HKG last year, when a lovely Aussie FA was SCC and was her first time in UC, she made my flight, and we had such a giggle, that her and the FSM gave my and my OH a hug and a kiss at the end of the flight, she also arranged her flight so she was on my NBO flight 3 weeks later! [y] She is a credit to VS.

That is my 2c worth!

Thanks Dominic [y]

VS has been my airline of choice for a few years now. I only fly long haul once or twice per year at my own cost. Having flown Y, PE and U/C I can honestly say to date I have never had a bad flight. Cabin Crew have always been courteous and attentive. I do always attempt to engage them in conversation and offer a smile or two. Maybe this is why? I have witnessed grumpy and rude CC reacting to 'problem passengers' but as they say - 'C'est la vie'. Meals have been hit and miss on many occasions, however I take into consideration that I am dining on airline food and not in a top notch restaurant.

Likes:

CC who are obviously very proud of the VS brand.
CC who are immaculately turned out when representing the brand.
CC who will go that extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.
CC (female) that are obviously wearing 'the kit'
[:)]

Dislikes:

FSM's who are aloof and stuffy and do not lead by example.
CC who are appear scruffy.
CC who lie.
CC who obviously take short cuts in their work.
CC (Male) that are obviously wearing 'the kit' [:)]
