Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie. Apologizes in advance if I post this incorrectly or in the wrong section. Also please note this is my very 1st post.
I thought everyone who wants to get an extra 5000 airmiles should visit this site and take out an ISA with Virgin Money. http://uk.virginmoney.com/va/

I think it is a pretty good deal. I haven't seen this link anywhere so far on this v flyer website. I hope it helps someone.

Thanks

Thanks for the link, groober [y]

Virgin Money used to do quite a few offers that involved Flying Club points, but this is the first I have seen in a very long time.

Thanks Nick.

I got it in a leaflet with my very 1st Virgin Atlantic Credit Card Bill. I believe that you get another 5000 miles if you join Virgin Casino/Games as well. Not too sure if the offer is still on...If it is on, hope it helps someone too.

Thanks

I haven't read anything on here recently about Virgin Casino, but lots of us got the 5K bonus when it first started up in 2006. There was also a 10K bonus when Virgin Games first started up in 2005.

There are lots of people here who are always looking for ways to beef up their Flying Club accounts. [:D]

Nick,

Just logged on and according to this page:

Link to Virgin Atlantic website.

You get 5000 airmiles for joining.

' 1. This promotion is open to is for Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members playing and depositing for the first time at Virgin Poker only.
2. To qualify for the 5,000 Flying Club bonus miles, members must register for a new cash account with Virgin Poker and deposit at least £20 into their new account. The player must then play 50 raked hands on real money cash tables.
3. This offer is valid from midday on 12 June 2008 and will terminate at midnight on on 31 July 2008. '

Hmm.. It expired 3 days ago....Never mind... They may put new offers on I hope. I am only now getting into the whole Virgin air miles thing. I have only made my 1st return flight this year with Virgin to Tobago. The flight to Tobago was great, the flight back was extraordinarily bad. The staff in Tobago are appalling and even swore at people. Virgin hasn't even give me a proper reply. Never mind, I am sure it may be a one off. [:D]

Edit to shorten link........ Nick

Would be good if you could write trip reports for these trips and post them on this site as I am thinking of Tobago for my next trip.

Hi Moid,

No worries I will give it a go. I would recommend Tobago to everyone. It is truly amazing. The turtles and the beaches are out of this world. My friends live in Trinidad so we had locals to help us out which made it even better. There is not much shopping and what little there is, isn't that good. But hey, we don't go to the Caribbean for the shops right? [:D] I loved the whole experience and most of the people are REAL FRIENDLY. Some places the customer service isn't that good but overall I think the whole experience was out of this world. Just be warned that the local Virgin staff in Tobago and not that good in customer service and they swore at people. I would go again though. Still waiting on Virgin to respond to me on that aspect though.

I got the leaflet as well and read a couple of the online reviews for the fund which don't seem to be as positive as they could be - for example although I'm by no means an expert on these matters.

The main gripe of the article seems to be the apparently high annual charge of 1.75%. Also, the minimum investment is £300 over 6 months or a lump sum of £500, whereas I believe to buy 5000 miles would be about £100.

I guess that in the end that it is up to the individual to work out if this particular fund is right for their investment profile at this point in time.

Hi Jonathan,

Phone and cancelled this morning. The DD was due to come out in a few days. I looked more into it and read some online reviews and the price is dropping since January. I think I got dazzled with the 5000 air miles!! Glad I read your review and did more research. Thanks.

No problem groober - I too was dazzled by the miles on offer when I first read the leaflet!
