This just gets better and better! I didnt think it was possible to be this excited over a flight [:D]

I am a total geek and check my seats everyday, and also run dummy bookings on VH to see if there are any price changes etc

Well, I got the shock of my life just now when I got to the flight section and saw that UC was avilable!!! [:0] I booked PE originally and was told that VH didnt have any UC upgrades for this flight, so by some amazing Good Fortune there are the seats, just sitting there waiting for somebody to book them!

I get on the phone to VH straight away and am holding my breath as the assistant processes the upgrade incase somebody else gets in first [:0] Then he says those magic words ''it confirmed'' your flying Uppper outbound and return WHOOO HOOOO!!!

OK, sorry this is getting a bit long winded, but I am VERY excited, Iv never even flown PE before [:D]

So, what I need to know is, how long after speaking to VH and it being confirmed will the seats take to show up on the seat map? I just checked but it still has us in PE?

What seats should I pick for 2 adults and 2 kids?

Will we now be able to go into the club lounge? are kids allowed in the club lounge?

Will my hubby have to wear proper trousers and shoes? he likes to wear cargo type pants and trainers when we fly for comfort, is that a no no?

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks [y]

Hi

Where are you flying from and to? The type of plane may dictate the seating.

Percentagewise the plane has been a 747 CFG 2, you can look up the seat map in the seat maps section.

VB747 is probabaly right about the seats.

Lucky you. I have phoned both VS and VH to no avail, trying to give them my money to upgrade from PE to U/C. So much so that after reading your post I was straight on the website looking at seat availability for my flight. I am not so fortunate as you, nothing available! Enjoy and relish the experience. [y]

And yes you can use the clubhouse, yes your hubby can wear casual clothes but only cocktail wear for you [;)]! Your children will also be welcome.

Glad to read your infectious enthusiasm [y].

I take it that you are checking the seat map using your PNR? If so is it only showing the PE section or are you able to see UC. If you can see UC then you are free to change your seats to whichever are available. Failing that a call to VS will help you pick your seats.

Earlier this year we changed flights and it was visible online within an hour of the booking change.

Enjoy the UC Experience

Thank you all for your help,

I spoke to VA who cannot see our upgrade yet, but they did say that 7ak and 8ak were showing as available for booking, somebody has already nabbed 6ak - no worries, 7 & 8 are still good seats aernt they?

Spoke to VH who said the info will take 24hrs to transfer from their system to VA so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to see seats avilable on the seat map, like hell am I going to be able to sleep a wink tonight! [:o)] Roll on tomorrow!!!

Ohhh, just thought of another question, any idea what time the Gatwick clubhouse opens in the morning?

Have an excellent time both en-route and on holiday but be careful not to fall too much in love with Jamaica because it's easily done! [8D]

(I love excited holidaymakers! lol)

Lots of variables.
Who have you booked through?
What bucket within PE are you in.
Also - and this may be the killer - are there 5 spare seats in UC?

See V-Flyer FAQ's for a lot of answers, but a phone call to whoever you booked your flights through - or direct to Virgin will give you the best answer.

LOL! What Nick means is whether your seats are booked in W or S class which are upgradeable or K class which is not unless you pay the difference between that and an upgradeable fare.

The class should be printed on your e-ticket - unless your booking is with VH which means it is in H class and cannot be upgraded.

Hello,

Well the seat map was open yesterday and HOORAY!!! all suites were available for selection, so I picked 6AK for the kids and 7AK for me and Mr Ptarmigan, totally amazing to see our names next to those seat numbers, something I NEVER ever thought would happen to us! [:D]

Timboab, I dont know if was just a pure storke of luck or what that happened to us, we already had PE seats booked with Virgin Holidays, I asked at the time of booking if there were any upgrades to UC and was told no, then I realised we would be on the horrible Ethiad plane so the upgrade wouldnt be worth it anyway, but then the a/c changed to a VA one so I though Ahh Ha! lets try again with the upgrade....only to be told NO [:(]

Then, out of the blue the other day, I was messing about on the Virgin holidays website and got the shock of my life to see that there was indeed now UC upgrades available for the very flight that we were taking [:0]

I phoned up VH, and asked for the upgrade to be added to my booking, I was anticipaiting them saying no again because we needed 4 seats, but the upgreade was added to our booking and the assistant said we were lucky because they were the only upgraded seats allocated to VH for this flight from VA and we were lucky to get all 4 [:D]

The cost of the upgrade for all 4 of us from PE to UC was an additional £2,500. I have no idea if this is a bargain or not? but the extra £600 each for the comfort of a suite on a 10 hour return flight seemed like a good deal to me!

I have no idea if closer to the time VA will release any more seats to VH for booking, because at the moment we have the entire UC cabin to ourselves, it certainly pays to keep checking these things every now and again, you may just ''luck out'' too! [:)]
