Come on guys the whole priority boarding issue isnt just down to VS is it!

If the Economy passengers actually sat on their arses like they were asked to by the gate staff until they are called then the remaining PE and UC passengers would be able to board without any problems.

At the end of the day it all boils down to certain individuals not being able to take the fact that those who pay more for their flights get more privileges, simple as!!!

It's harsh but it's true. God, I hated it when I went for a xmas trip to NY, on the return to LHR, I waited until my seat was called and had to fight through the throng that were hanging around the gate even though they hadn't been called (more people stood up than than the no of rows called). So even though I was in Y, I went to the empty Upper desk and was processed and on to the plane very quickly. I sometimes wished that gate staff were more forceful and tell people if their seat is not called then don't bother to come to the desk as you will be turned away until called.

Wonder if it would help the situation if the 'rows to board' were shown on the screens at the gate. Some of the PA equipment is absolutely appauling.

It would also make it easier to send the incorrect rows away.

I personally would like to see all upper class passengers bussed from the C/H to the aircraft and be boarded by either external steps or walk up the steps to the air bridge. All boarding passes could be checked at the clubhouse by ground crew stationed there.

A dedicated transportation gate would be required I assume but am sure that with a small fleet or coaches and a dedicated team of ground crew that this would work well.

Ground crew could do multiple flight boarding checks without having to run around the terminal and the gates would be less congested due to the lack of U/C or A/U passengers. And all U/C A/U passengers would have a less fraught more relaxed V.I.P style boarding experience

I agree about sending away the incorrect rows but with putting info on the screens you'll get the same people who don't understand the verbal commands (even though for most, it's their mother tongue) can't read simple instructions either.

I like the way they used to board Concorde where the gate was in the lounge.

A similar thing happens on BA at SFO and interestingly on BA at JER if they can get the a/c to gate 3. You get called once all the hoi poloi have boarded.

bmi do that at Belfast athough we had to trudge down the end to some far gate instead of the bmi dedicated one as 'they aren't allowed to do it when there's a Ryanair plane in'. I never did work that out. I'm guessing something to do with wingspans.

Guys it really does suprise me that some of you have been a little lenient with regards to this issue.

VS could make life easier by having 2 entry points at the gate desk, one for UC & PE and the other for Economy passengers with a rope across each to allow pax through when called, if people can actually see the seperate lines then they wont be able to encroach so easily, but at the end of the day, regardless of whether they are bored or not, if you arent called up then sit your arse down and wait!

It is only human nature to try and get on first but if you want to board and disembark first then pay the extra, the premium products are being trimmed to their limits at the mo, dont let this small but important difference slip.
