If it is of any help - we booked with VH to go to Orlando (and upgraded to UC straight away) all 5 seats in May 07 for flight in Feb 08.

Did the same to Miami last year HG however that was from LHR and U/C suites were in abundance. As you probably know there are only 14 seats on LGW flights, it seems that none are given over to VH for upgrades initially. This year I was attempting to be a cheapskate and only booked PE, a day later I realised my mistake!

I booked through VH to Barbados for April next year as soon as it became available earlier this year and was told they only had 2 UC upgrades available on each flight (luckily I only wanted 2 seats and booked immediately).

But as I said we flew to Orlando - with only 14 suites, and had no problems. The VH Agent just had to ring Virgin Atlantic to get one more released for flight home which she did while I hung on the line. I guess it is just the luck of the draw perhaps ? Anyway good luck Bryan - keep trying (daily) - I would as it is UCS/FIRST all the way for us or no way.

Cheers,

HG

HG thanks for the advice which I assure you is already in hand! Must admit I get frustrated being always put through to the Indian call centre who seem to be reading from a script. Some how I think that I might have more luck if I eventually talk to a UK rep!

Just going back to the cost of upgrades with VH - I have just worked out that we saved a little over £2,700 by getting the UC flights through VH, if I booked the same flights today on VS it would cost just over £9,000 [:0] So, I think I managed to bag myself a total bargain! £1575 each round trip in UC [:D]

Also, I'm not really one for package holidays, we usually just booked everything seperate and have always found it much cheaper that way, but in this instance if I had booked the same holiday paying for flights with VS and dealing directly with Beaches it would have cost a staggering £6000 more for the exact same holiday! [:0]

Needless to say I am one very happy VH customer at the moment!

You've got a great deal, what you need to look at is the class of fare now available through Virgin for the more expensive price. It's likely that all the Z class fares have now been sold and the higher fare is a D class.

I normally check both VH and VS, and over the last couple of years have always got the better deal through VS, however I do normally wait for the sales wherever possible [y]

Yes I think that's they key. When looking for PE or UC you generally get a better deal through VH, except when there is a VS sale on when it'll almost always be cheaper to book through VS.
