Morning, Anyone know why this flight is delayed until 15.30 today? all flights arrived back this morning on time ish apart from the VS044 which is due at 11.43.

Reason i'm asking is because i have family on the flight and also wondered why if its going to be the returning VS044 plane it will take 4 hours to turn the plane around?.

also surprised that its the 10.00 VS029 flight thats delayed and not the 12.45 VS015.

Edit to thread title for clarity....Nick

Could be many issues, tech problem on the a/c is probably the most likely, but also things like crew issues etc could be a reason. It is very rare for airlines to delay a later a/c if an earlier one to the same destination has a problem. It seems to use the most sensible thing to do but obviously, for whatever reason isn't the done thing.

I guess your only hope on knowing 100% will be if one of the VS staff members who use the board know or when your family tell you the reason they were given.

The reason is that the BGI is today operating on a LHR conig aircraft - 54 J 62 W 228 Y which is for some reason covering a LGW a/c, maybe due to maintenance. Therefore the loads have been booked for this config a/c for BGI so not possible to use one of the LGW a/c (Much higher capacity 14 J 58 W 379 Y) as they are needed for the MCOs which are all booked full at the moment.
I dont know why the a/c is late today, most likely reason is a tech issue or delay in getting it down from LHR.

There would be some nice op-ups as well, given the LHR plane has 30 more UC suites, but if the original plane was anywhere near full, then there would be up to 105 folk who couldn't get on, [?]

Checked the loads and only 10 booked in J, so most of premum would have been upgraded. BGI had the lightest loads of all the LGW flights today which is prob why it was selected for the LHR a/c, so no-one would have been bumped as wasn't oversold. Finally took off at 16:58 so only a five hour delay!! Not sure eeven v-port is worth that!

Isn't that a 7 hour delay?!? and I agree - not sure v-port is worth that!! Happy PE pax.

Does the LHR aircraft have loads of UC on the upper deck? If so, Woo Hoo, when we go to Barbados we will be on an LHR!?![:o)]

LHR is all UC on the upper deck however BGI flights usually use the LGW configuations as shown on this site.

Just noticed that my vegas tomorrow is on the LHR a/c not sure what will happen as it was booked full on a lgw config! Usually they keep A-Zone for J-Pax and then premium pax get upper class seats but still premium service. Lots and lots of bumped pax though - about 100!! There must be a LGW a/c tech somewhere as this hasn't been planned, and the LHR a/c has been brought down as a last resort to cover. Oh I am going to have fun tomorrow morning! Just hope they make some time up in BGI so we not too delayed,

I think it must be LHR because I have pre selected my seats on-line in the Upper Deck... Woo Hoo. Not for a while yet though.

Good Luck tomorrow Virginboy, I do not envy you at all.

Interesting, I was out on Lake Mead yesterday and noticed VS 43 coming in, a little early in fact, it crossed the lake just before midday.

No idea why the flight was delayed out of LAS (was it?)

No the vegas was on time yesterday. They used the LHR a/c on the bgi today with a 7 hour delay and for some reason they're using it on the vegas tomorrow. It's already showing a 2 hr delay tomorrow but i think that's optimistic. Going have to use every inch of charm on those happy passengers lol!

Oh ok, sorry I am dazed and confused...

It dawned on me that we did have a rather nasty storm role through town yesterday afternoon and maybe that caused the delay..but I guess not [:p]

Hey all

On the VS46 tomorrow... notice at online checkin that aircraft changed to an A346 layout seatmap! Is this for sure? And how come?

Also just curious how often they change aircraft?

Thanks in advance!

A long shot i know but please please keep this plane at Gatwick until next week and operate it on the VS27 on the 19th. I'm booked in W and a nice op up to J would be fantastic

Wishful thinking i know!!
