A thought has struck me. I may wish to avail myself of the spa facilities at the LHR clubhouse. But that's going to leave me with wet swimming trunks / towel etc, which may not be that pleasant to decant into hand luggage for a seven hour flight... any suggestions?

Do they still have a pool at LHR?

Dont worry, they have a spin dryer thingy so that you can dry your swimming things before popping them back into your hand luggage - though I'd bring a bag to put them in as well, just incase. As for a towel, I wouldnt bring your own, they have them at the Clubhouse to borrow.

I am sure some of our regular 'dippers' such as Ben and James can share their experiences and tips also.

Thanks,
Sarah

Don't worry about towels because they provide them. So you only have the wet trunks to deal with.

Bring a plastic bag along with you, and stuff the wet trunks into there and then stuff it onto your hand luggage?

They have I think 6 shower rooms. The shower rooms also serve as a steam room (it does take quite a while for the steam to come on!). Then outside of the shower rooms are the jacuzzi and the sauna. The jacuzzi is not as big as a pool -- just the standard hot tub size (if such a thing exists!). It should sit 3 to 4 people comfortably.

I went there in May and loved it :)

Do people actually use that Jacuzzi? I have always thought that I would look a fool asking to use it (as a lone business traveller!) I have used the showers many times, but never the pool. Might have to give it a go next week...

The spin-dryer is very efficient and once you've used it just put your togs into a plastic bag. They'll be fine

Often take a dip in the pool. A very nice way of passing the time in the Clubhouse. Even better to phone friends from in the Spa pool to tell them you are in a hot tub at the airport and then send a pic. :)
