I'm probably going to be shot by the moderators, but I do not have membership. [B)], hence the posting in this forum

I noticed a question on transerfing miles in another forum

'Hi, Does anybody know if it would be possible for members to transfer their miles into another account? I recently took my elderly parents on holiday. They now have miles that they will never use.'

You can gift miles following the link below but this limted to 19k pa. Originally there was no limit but due to abuse (I understand)they have limited it. I have tried to transfer my childrens miles on the basis that I paid for the flights but no success.

Well I don't really understand what you're getting at? Gifting miles is for BUYING miles for someone else, not giving them your miles? So this isn't really a lateral response to the OP at all - more a separate 'you can buy miles for other people y'know' discussion which could legitimately stay in General.

Mind you at £300 for 19,000 that's only .6p a mile so not an awful rate. I do love the 'I paid so I want the miles' argument though. As an employer I'm fully on your side here. [:w][:p]

Surely that 1.58p per mile (or .6 of a mile per penny) [:w]

Hmmm where did I go wrong, I shoud eat at lunch time and not surf the net!

I asked VS on how to transfer miles between family memebers some time ago and they emailed me saying gift miles would be returning. They actually emailed me when the facility was available, early May 2008. Since the limit was 19k I did not look any further, if I had I would have seen gift miles are to be paid for.

I'm impressed that VS email me but disappointed that my original email was misinterpreted especially since I asked for details on houw to transfer miles between family members.

I do beleiev it should be acceptable to transfer between family members.

Can't win them all but I keep trying.

I now get shot twice for posting on the wrong forum and not reading the T&C's (and I'm a Project Manager Hmmm)

Er, who's doing the shooting? [?] Decker is the only mod who has responded up till now and I don't see him reprimanding you for posting on the wrong forum. Nor do I see anyone shooting you for not reading the T&Cs.

You're being too hard on yourself, Mikee [:D]

Much as I'd love to edit my reply so I don't look like quite so much of an idiot I'll just hang my head in shame [:I][:#]
