Sorry fpr asking this but I know it has come up before but I have just been told that we can access the clubhouse with a SIA J boarding pass. Is this true? I have searched and know this question has been asked before (possible even by me) but for the life of me I cannt find same.

Nope. You have to turn up and trust your luck.

I asked the receptionist at the Clubhouse a couple of weeks ago if I would be allowed enter in November when I am flying to Melbourne in Raffles Class, and she confirmed that there would be no problem getting in.

I was going to ask the same question - my fear was that with the advent of the A380 flights that access would change or be limited to safeguard against overcrowding, as far as I can see SQ have not expanded their T3 lounge so not quite sure where they put everybody...

From memory I think there are the same number of First/Suites and about 10 more Business seats on an A380 compared to a 747 so shouldn't be too bad - could be wrong though.

That's about right. The SQ J and F lounges at LHR are both awfully lame compared to the CH. As an aside, I hold the rather dubious distiction of being the very first Suites pax to grace the LHR CH. Normally I would choose the CH over the SQ F lounge. However on one occasion the CH was overrun with kids during the Easter getaway. What with that and a stinking hangover, the peace and quiet of the SQ F lounge was rather more sympathetic with my stomach's abuse.

The SQ J lounge can become rather busy.

Interesting question! I would imagine the biggest impact on the A380 will be on the economy waiting areas. VS are seemingly waiting to see how the Big Bird fares before committing to it (ISTR 2013 was a planned rollout date?) and even then, the impact on the CH would depend on the eventual configuration.

Which begs another question. Given the possibilities offered by the A380 - look at SQ - what will Virgin do with them?

If they offer beds and suites, there'll be a huge disparity between UC on an A380 and UC on an older jet. Might we then see the rollout of, I don't know, Virgin First Class?

Imagine THAT.
