Anyone had this new survey, lots of interesting questions like 'if Virgin Atlantic was to create a higher tier of Flying Club membership than Gold with additional benefits, what 3 additional benefits would make you want to qualify for this higher tier?'

Interesting ...

Yep, just completed it. New tier looks likely given the wording....

100TP from VS only, no partner flights.

But that's already there ... perhaps something intermediate?

OK OK, so I did the survey in a hurry ... wonder if this means the secret club threshold will go up [:?].

Got the email, but the click through in the email seems to be broken, even doing a manual cut-and-paste job.

Survey that doesn't work, no invites to jollies, I'm beginning to think I'm persona-non-grata!

This looks basically like formalisation of the GBTOP-type tier, right?

Maybe this is to offset those of us in the US who are going to get Gold because of the new VS AMEX card?

The 100TP thing has been there for aaaaaaaages.

This is just the first time VS has been open about it.

if 100TP status has been there for ages, does anyone know what its called and what privileges one earns. Is this the secret club?

If I dare make the comparison, I've always considered the BA Exec Club to be massively harder to attain Silver/Gold than VS or many other FF schemes.

Roughly I've historically equated VS Gold much closer to BA Silver based on both the amount of work you have to do to attain the status and the perks given.

Here's a table of one way UC/CW transatlantic flights needed to attain various tiers that hopefully will come out OK...

____________Silver Gold 100TP
BA EC_________5_____13___N/A
VS FC (New)___3______8____20
VS FC (Old)___2______6____20

To get BA Gold only using domestic routes requires 75 one-ways - definitely hard work!

Cheers, H

I have a VS Gold Card and a BA Gold Card, I currently fly to Mumbai from Heathrow in PE on VS this is worth 6 TP per trip and on BA is is worth 150 TP. so to get BA Gold its 10 return trips and on Virgin it is 5, this means I would need to do 17 return trips on VA to get the 100TP level which I can do as I do approx 20 Long Haul flights to and from India per year. The reason I have the BA Gold is because VA stopped counting TP at 30 so I got some better recogintion for the additional flights but I would happily swap over to VA if they introdued some of the option in the survey.

The problem is that I find keeping Gold on four programs is an expensive business as it is. Another tier to attain will leave me destitute.

As a consequence, I can only manage Gold on VS and Emirates and Silver on BA ... I am intrigued by what VS may formalise in the new tier because it will decide going forward whether to stay Au with VS and go for Gold on BA too ...

The last 3 replies illustrate (to me) that this a no brainer to VS. If I were them I'd be appalled to see top flyers defecting to the competition purely because they can't attain anything greater with VS.

Don't forget on BA your 600 TPs are zeroed when you get to silver then you need another 1500 TPs for gold, so 18 CW flights for gold if you are starting from Blue.

So 20 flights for the new tier on VS, comparable and given VS's stated objective for Flying Club to be a 'generous' scheme let's see what happens.

Wonder what the renewal will be - since as said, 13 flights in CW will do it on BA!

Slinky, maybe they could give the new tier some vouchers to hand out in the general departure area so random people could get a shower in the CH?

Like that, or even a guided tour of T5 and comparison with T3 and the VS Clubhouse - then of course if we nationalise them all we could all get showers [y]
