Air New Zealand is to lauch a new Buisness Class seat as part of a new long haul service and product.
but...
It is exactly the same as Virgins Upper Class Suite, only that it is not purple leather!
So Virgin don't have the largest Buisness seat-bed anymore then...[:(]

take a look...
http://www.flatseats.com and it should be on the list of products on the home page.

sorry!

I should have searched before! I just couldn't remember it being on here before and assumed that it wasn't released all the way back in June!

No problem :)

You actually reminded me about it again, it's interesting reading back over that previous thread. Think I still prefer the purple leather though. :D

I wonder if VS has some sort of patent where they could take legal action against NZ. One things VS has over NZ is their very good service. I`ve flown NZ a heap of times to the US and they`re absolute garbage, just like Qantas and UA. There is talk of DJ (Virgin Blue) starting SYD-LAX services perhaps with VS, and the sooner we get a decent airline flying in between AU and the US, the better!!!

Neil

If you look at the thread that Autopilot quoted (this one), you'll see that Air NZ are actually licensing the UCS design correctly - no need for legal action ;)

Im flying from AKL - LAX next year, July to be precise, and ive got fingers and toes crossed to get these seats onboard the ANZ flight that i will be on.

Ill let you all know what the experience was like if i am lucky enough to get it, with a comparison to VA UCS.

Im just glad that there is another airline out there with such a superb seat!!

Will be interesting to see a comparison, obviously we know what to expect from the seat. But cabin atmosphere, food, service etc - the whole package.

Foz :o)

You know, it`s curious that VS allows NZ to do this via a licence. It is well speculated that VS wants to be the first airline that anyone can fly totally around the world, including the very lucrative Australia to he US flights. Even though NZ don`t do directs anymore, it will still take a huge chunk out of NZ`s profit on these sectors. So the suggestion that VS licenced the seat to NZ because they are not in competition on the same route, will not mean a thing as soon as VS start a SYD-SFO or LAX service. It will be direct competition. I know a lot of Aussies who fly NZ to LAX and they have to go via AKL now instead of direct, so these are the people who VS will take.
