Following successful trials, all B747-400 flights arriving into and departing from LHR from 18th September 08 will board and disembark J customers via the L1 door.

This door will be opened first followed by L2.
Once the J cabin is clear, the right hand side of the aircraft will disembark via L1 while the left side disembark via L2.

A few of the 747-400 stands at LHR do not have twin jet bridges, wherever possible these will be avoided.
This procedure will improve the boarding/disembarking experience for our all pax and assist with OTP.

Trials are also being done on the Airbus fleet for this procedure.

Hallelujah!

How long have I whinged about that? Since I've ever flown VS, I think.

I'm chuffed that someone in Flight Ops has finally got hang of this. It's only took them, what? Twenty Three years? [}:)]

Thanks for the inside track on this!

That is excellent news!! I had it when I fly with Thai last year, and it seemed to work very well.

Brilliant [:)]

Am flying VS 747 on Thursday from Heathrow - so will be giving it a try... [:)]

All VS need now is a seperate UC line for the passport check: if you walk to the front of the one and only line (as told to by the Clubhouse) you can get a serious amount of dirty looks... [B)]

Hi Pete

Doh, I meant Friday! I am getting confused because we are leaving home on Thursday (staying at a hotel at Heathrow - because of the early flight on Friday - that night).

We are on the 9.20am to Miami. I assume that probably boards about 8.40am?

AND I am not a morning person...[|)] I will be the bleery eyed person tucking into breakfast in the Clubhouse on Thursday morning.

Is it too early to drink champagne at that time? [}:)] (no, no, I will be good and save the alcohol until I board the plane and open my eyes... [:X] )

Where are you three off to?

Boo it is de rigeur and a necessary revitaliser to drink at least one glass of fizzy nectar at that time of day!

Thanks vscss - good to have this trail result confirmed, agree with Mike that it's overdue. Will report back today, VS045 is a 747 today I think! Bring on the 346s asap now.

Excellent, shall look forward to trying it next week. But surely this will now mean that some UC pax will turn rightwhen boarding now[:0], bet there are a few V-Flyers who haven't done that for a while [}:)]
