Hi

A quick query on which particular internal flight to book from LAS-SFO.

Two options:
10.20-12.05
or
12.40-14.25

The VS flight to LHR leaves at 1655 and we're flying PE so no nice clubhouse to look forward to.

Can anyone please confirm:

1. If the luggage is checked through
2. If they are both in the same terminal (27 Feb 09 flight) as I understand VX may be moving terminal soon.
3. Would there be sufficient time if we caught the one arriving into SFO at 14.25.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

1. Haven't tried with VX, but US-based airlines tend to be quite flexible about this. It's not a huge imposition to pick up your bags and re-check them at SFO, given answer to (2), but you should be able to do this. I have always been able to through check when I have had United flights connecting to VS flights.
2. Not likely - currently scheduled for sometime in 2010
3. There would be sufficient time for the transfer, but nowhere near enough time for the clubhouse [;)]

Take the earlier flight and have one of the most pleasant lunches in a clubhouse that you could possibly get. That would be my advice. Unless you absolutely must have that last minute flutter in LAS, it's the way to go.

Edit - sorry, missed the part about NO clubhouse. What a dumba@$ - bit early in the morning waiting to get to work! [|)]

We are doing the 12:05 arrival flight on Thurs when then catching the VS20 but we are flying UC so wanted to get plenty of time in the CH! I asked about checking bags through and the agent was 100% but said they didn't think so!

The problem with inter-lining bags though is that you will loose any baggage priority you are entitled to on VS.

As VX dont code share with VS, I dont think they will be able to issue your VS BC's so you will have to show your bag receipts at VS check-in anyway to get them onto the VS20 flight. I think your bags will then just be loaded onto the VS flight randomly.

I'd personally much rather collect my bags and check them in again for your VS flight home.

Much more can and does go wrong when checking bags through multiple airlines.

VX flights fom LAS to SFO can be very busy (ie full). If you opt for the later flight check in online with VX as soon as the flight opens.I've interlined bags with US previously on this route and they arrived back at LHR OK, virtually first off (they were tagged by the LAS staff as priority as we were travelling in UC).Like MarkedMan has said the plans to change terminals is not imminent.
