Hi there

I'm off on the VS19 to SFO tomorrow, I assume it's a 747?

This sounds like a wonderfully elaborate excuse to sit in premium, but I have to work on the plane tomorrow and my laptop battery holder has just died on me today. Just wondering if premium economy seats have laptop power so I might be able to upgrade?

Cheers
Richard

It'll be pot luck. If the aircraft has V:Port on it, you've got EmPower in PE, if it's Odyessy, then no PE power, only in Upper.

Thanks - I don't suppose there's an easy way of knowing which plane until the day? Well in case there is V:Port I'll put on my best shirt and "home counties business accent" and play on the fact my name starts with Dr. and see if it gets me anywhere!!! Hasn't worked yet !!

Thanks again

The other option is to ask if the aircraft is a V:Port ship, and if so, enquire about the possibility of a cash or mileage (assuming you have enough stashed away) upgrade to PE, so you can use the laptop power.

The one-way cash upgrade charge may not be too steep, if there is availability in the cabin.

Mike

Don't suppose you could spring for an Upper Class upgrade? The clubhouse availability tool (one of the many member benefits of the forum ;)) shows

"that aircraft has 32 seats in Premium Economy, and 0 seat(s) available to buy. Premium Economy is very likely to be oversold on this flight, whereas it has 306 seats in Economy, and 7+ seats available to buy. Economy has good availability."

Oh dear. Looks like I'm in trouble then. Very much doubt my work would be very happy with me forking out for an UC seat! And sadly I only have 3,500 air miles after spending 40,000 on a free flight to BOS for New Year !

Thanks for the information though

For people's reference, if available LHR SFO Cash Upgrades at check-in are as follows:

£400 to PE
£1,200 to UC

Well that is what we were quoted / charged on our flight last year. Those prices are from a ticket that couldn't be upgraded with miles.

Foz :o)

I'll try my best, I'm getting there 3.5-4 hours early to try and snaffle a exit seat at worst. 14 or so Virgin flights and no upgrade when asking, although this is my first Silver flyer flight, so looking forward to not queueing!!

Thanks to all
