Also wondering about access to LHR clubhouse.
Flying to Mumbai in January and have access to clubhouse - what is the earliest you can arrive?
Thanks again

Hi everyone.....

Flying to Hong Kong in April - late afternoon flight from LHR. 2 questions, the first of which relates to this topic:

1. Can I purchase Clubhouse Access (I booked PE through VA website)
2. Is it right that I can check in any time that day?

For question 1, have enquired with VA directly on-line and via email, and waited on the phone for ages, but not had a reply yet!!

Thank you in advance....

Welcome to V-Flyer [y]

1. Not directly. There is no access for PE pax unless a AU card holder or as a guest of a AU member or a pax travelling on a J,D,R,Z or Upper G ticket.

Best bet is to put your travel plans into the itinerary section an hope for a fellow V-Flyer travelling that day to offer you a guest spot. The itinerary section is only open to paid-up members though.

2. Yes you can.

Thanks Darren. Saw that you could purchase if a Virgin Holiday so surprised I can't for a directly booked flight. [:(!] There are 4 of us travelling together (£6K - so it wouldn't hurt VA to take an extra £60 off us), so I guess it's good old Servisair....

Appreciate your help though. From first look, I think V-flyer membership may be worth a go.....

Just an update for all. Finally got a reply from Flying Club Customer Services, stating that the Clubhouse was only open to Gold Members and Upper Class customers, and therefore it was not possible to purchase access, otherwise there would be capacity issues.

I completely understand, although slightly disappointed that there is a contradiction to that for those that book through Virgin Holidays.

The number of CH passes available to buy through VH is very limited/restricted, it isn't just available for anyone who wants it.

I'm sure you know better than me, but the VH website seems to indicate that if you part with your £60, then access is yours.

Not to worry anyway, thanks for your help. Need to stop spreading my loyalty memberships and stick to one I guess!! [;)]

Yes, you can buy access for £60, but just try some dates I bet at least 75%+ come back as no space available.

Thanks. One other question, rather than starting a new topic. I flew out of LHR T3 last year, and security were not leeting you through until 2 hours before your flight. Assume this is no longer the case according to some of the responses I've seen on here??

I've never heard of this before. We flew out of LHR twice last year, beginning and end and never had this. Few a few weeks ago too and no problem either.

Perhaps just a short-term issue then - early last year. Thanks again Neil.

This was happening around Aug 2006, when the Security Services identified some liquids might be used to bring down a plane.

At that time, they were keeping us outside of the terminal until the flight was called. Which was ~ 2 hours before take off.

This was also the time, you got a pat down at Security, at the Gate and then on board.

I recal the VS19 flight to SanFrancisco departed from Gatwick, and as I was in PE, by the door, I spent 2 hours at the bar, while they patted everyone down.

My folks who always fly PE and have silver cards were offered UC CH access at LGW for 35 each.

We have purchased Clubhouse access many times through VH, but they do always say it's subject to availability - so I agree that the number of places is limited.
