Is there a choice of lounge?

Hi ya

I am travelling JFK to CUN on AA Business class saturday morning 11.15am, and i wanted to ask if there was more than one lounge to choose from in the terminal (my ticket doesnt state which terminal sorry) so i guess there is only one they fly from![:?]
Anyhoo i wondered if the BA lounge would be better then AAs? and whats the chances if i could get in under the ONE WORLD ticket, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
P.S i will have about 2 hours to spare in the lounge having stayed at the marriott fairfield[n]

Although I can't answer the question I wanted to point out that AA goes from terminal 8 and BA terminal 7

HL is correct of course in regard to terminals, although the new AA terminal at JFK is easy to get too from the BA terminal via the monorail or indeed walking.

IIRC the agreement with OneWorld is that if you are eligible for lounge use (either travelling in appropriate cabin, or OneWorld Emerald and Saphhire tier members) then any member lounge in a terminal is available for use. Now, I do not know whether this also means 'airport' and that could be the key factor at JFK where the airlines operate from separate terminals.

Then, there is a separate question about the class of service, 'business' or 'first' on US domestic flights on AA do not qualify for lounge access. This may extend to Mexico so I suggest you check whether or not your flight and class qualify ...

If you don't have frequent flier status I'd check on your lounge access eligibility - then I would check over on flyertalk in the AA or BA forum stickies or postings for advice.

Phoned AA and your right we dont qualify for lounge access even on a d class ticket, i think i missed the point because since this was a business ticket i assumed i would get get lounge access, seems very stingy as the ticket cost around £350ow and atleast with Club Europe on BA you would get terrace access.

Ahhh - yes - flying in business/first in the US doesn't get you a lounge, they're basically for frequent fliers rather than first class flyers!

More often than not, for 'internal' flight (which as you have found can include all north american flights) you get access to lounges by 'joining the lounge club', at a yearly fee. Most folks in the US would buy economy tickets and the higher rated frequent fliers would get upgraded at the last minute, so lounges for J/Fs only would be very empty. So they charge you for it. On a 'long haul' flight, they do give you access. And 'beer tokens', as the bars mostly require you to pay (Continental does not).

For two hours, you aren't likely to be missing much anyway.

A number of airline lounges will allow you to purchase 'day passes'. They aren't cheap - about $50 per person (although I have bought some UA Red Carpet Club passes for about $25 each on ebay...) - BUT depends how much you want lounge access. On either a LONG lay over or on the way to business meetings (where you need somewhere quiet to prepare) they can be worth it... we have bought them a few times.
