I completed the fuel surcharge refund claim today. And could not find anywhere on the site indicating when you could expect to hear back.

Has anyone else heard back, if so how long did it take ?

I plan to put a diary reminder, so i can chase it after an appropriate period of time.

I would guess around 12 weeks. If it's anything like US rebates ;-)

I applied for one back in August and haven't had it yet.

A good majority of us filled the online form in mid July when it first went live and have yet to see anything yet, so I wouldn't hold your breath for something within 12 weeks. IIRC there were over a 1000 claims submitted within a few days so it will take quite a while to process them all.

Ok, thanks. I submitted one for my BA and VS account, and then a separate one for the family.

I need to check through their passports tonight to make sure i got them all. I found I had booked 4 tickets just a week before the cut off, although we did n't travel until a month later.

I guess I'll put an iCal reminder in Jan 09 :-O

I remember reading a piece on the BBC Website, they were saying it could take up to 6 Months.

Forgive me for being cynical, but these things are never settled quickly, unless the court orders a time limit.

Somebody, somewhere is sitting on a wodge of money which, in time, they will have to distribute - there appears to be no incentive for them to do this quickly.

Being super cynical, could it be that the longer it takes, the more billing hours incurred and the more interest is accrued? No, surely not.... This is all being done in the interests of justice and to punish those nasty price fixing scoundrels. [;)][:D][8D]

Thought I'd dredge it up, as I was bored.

I've heard nothing back either via email or in the post, I guess as soon as anyone hears something it will appear here.

By the way, the Lawyers fees of $23m to be paid by Virgin and BA, were approved on the 26th Sep. With a date of 17th Oct in case of appeals to the fees being charged.

Interestingly enough, any balance of the fund for surcharges not claimed will be retained by the airlines.
