VS just announced that the VS 49 will be reinstated for summer 2009 to replace the MAN-UVF frequency which is to be dropped at the end of march.
VS 49 will operate once weekly on fridays departing LGW at 14:00 and arriving into MCO at 18:24
VS 50 will depart MCO at 20:55 and arrive into LGW at 09:45

First flight will be on 27/03/09 and will run until 23/10/09 [:D]

Thanks for the info Virginboy.

Makes total sense. VS obviously wanted to add extra capacity anyway on to this route when they were planning on using the ex Eithad A340 and now with the collapse of TCD/XL it is obviously missing a lot of flights so this fits perfectly.

It is a shame however that it is ex LGW rather than MAN, especially with the 73/74 being replaced by the GLA flights during certain dates in the summer, leaving only one MAN-MCO on a Fri and Sat rather than two, but I guess it works better fitting the a/c in to the other schedules.

Braced for the 'why was VS49/50 delayed?' questions now.

It does make sense though, take up the loss of capacity. Perhaps in the 5 months to launch it will be chance to get the 'Alitala Five' in the 'shop?

Wonder why they didn't just add a weekly flight from GLA, instead of the sprinkling they have at the moment. I am still amazed at the familiar faces we see every time travelling down & up on the BA shuttle, when they could have been 'green' and flown direct from Scotland.

The flights they have at the moment are so few and far between that it seems to me that they struggle to gain any sort of momentum.

Would be interested to hear load figures from the GLA flights that have already taken place.
