Flying this route in April 09. I head to Hong Kong every year, but this will be my first time with VS. Have flown BA and ANZ PE before, so what can I expect in comparison? Any pluses / minuses to share?

Thanks.

From my knowledge, you will find the service better than BA WTP as all BA give you is more room, and first service where as PE with VS gets a different menu and other added extras. Possibly not quite as good as NZ PE as with NZ you get the business class food and wine service - so imagine something between NZ and BA and you will be just about there!

Thanks for that. The food was good on NZ! Are these purple seats on VS anything special? The info available on the website is limited. With others, you can play with seats, recline them up and down etc, and see some pictures of the cabin, but not been able to find any of that!?

There's a little bit more info and a PE seat comparision chart here

VS PE seats are wider than both BA and ANZ PE seats.

Having done both VS PE and BA WT+, VS PE is much better, especially since VS upgraded their PE onboard service. There's not even dedicated checkin for BA WT+ [n]

I agree with the above, however to play devils advocate, the food on NZ is far superior to anything VS offers.

What even better than the wonderful Muffin lead VS PE offering[:w]

Seriously though, with PE you are basically paying for the extra legroom and a bigger seat. The nice thing about VS PE are the little extra benefits over say WT+, the separate check in, priority boarding, pre flight drink, meals on proper china, priority baggage reclaim, all of which make it a very good product in my opinion.

I'd be wary of expecting better food in PE than straight Y. The presentation may alter, but believe the reheated stuff remains the same...o.k you may get offered a baileys or some Nitromors after food..

My daughter and her friend are flying VS, LHR-SYD with no stopover on 9th Dec. I've asked her for a trip report which I intend to post, subject to her availablitiy when not partying!
