I have just received an email from Virgin to tell me I am a lucky winner of two tickets to see the new James Bond film next week - Great News! [y][y]

I would normally post on here to ask if any other V-Flyers are going - this time I don't need to, because the email from Virgin also includes the email addys of every other winner. [n][V]

How much spam and what other issues will this email create? [?]

Nick

Edit to move to Flying Club forum, as that is a better place for it....... Nick

Me too, Nick. And I share your concerns even though the email has been 'recalled'. That'll help then[ii]

Are there any other V-Flyers going to this event?

Sue and I will be there. I will dig out my V-Flyer polo shirt for the evening. [8D]

This morning I received an e mail informing me I had won a ticket to the film showing. Unfortunately I had to reply by 1200 yesterday! Suffice to say I will not be attending.

Got an invite but sent regrets - we are off to Stephen Fry's Halloween bash instead.

I wonder if it's just Au holders who 'won'... [:p][:?]

Nope I am a mere Ag pleb. The fact that I won but could not respond to the email has nothing to do with it! I did send a letter of complaint and today recieved an offer of two tickets for tonights viewing. Unfortunately I am working in Scotland and live in Cornwall. This makes travel arrangements a tad difficult. Thanks for nothing Virgin Atlantic.

I read this thread late yesterday afternoon and couldnt remember what Nick said he would wear, so i approached a bloke who was wearing a disney mickey sweater as that seemed to fit what i remembered you said you,d wear?
Well lets just say i felt a complete idiot and my wife laughed saying she was glad she didnt walk up with me[:I] nice real nice[:o)]
Oh well next time!
Did anyone get caught in the blackwall tunnel que? took me from milton keynes 3.5 hours to get there traffic was horrendous all the way!
O yeah i thought the film was awesome as were the canapes.

cheers

Alex - I was wearing a V-Flyer polo. [:D]

I didn't have any trouble geeting there, as we had spent the afternoon at Bluewater. Our problems were getting home - the M25 and the M1 were a nightmare - we didn't get home until just after 4am.

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. I thought the film was good, as opposed to brilliant. The action scenes were spectacular, but I thought it lacked a lot of the James Bond humour and was just a repackaged Jason Bourne / Mission Impossible type action flick - not that this makes it a bad thing.

Many thanks to the VS staffers who made the event possible, and those who were there helping out.

The M25-M1 slip was heaving glad i went round to hemel, and ditto on all the VS staffers, everyone there helping was a credit.

P.s couldnt you have worn a neon shell suit much like the one LRom wears in the CH?[:p] would have been easier to find!

cheers

You mean it didn't start off with Bond meeting Q, getting his gadgets, meeting the villan to play cards/gold/ some other contest and finally escaping certain death by use of said gadgets[}:)][}:)][}:)]

Seriously, looks like VS made this a worthwhile evening for all the lucky winners

Sorry, but I'm trying to work out if that's wry humour or not. [:?]

Wry humour? Me? Actually Darren a tad humourous and a tad serious. In my previous post I explained that I had an e-mail from VS telling me I had won '2 tickets'. I received the e-mail on Tuesday morning however to claim my prize I had to respond by 1200 on Monday! An impossibility methinks. So I made a complaint to VS. For people who do not live in the South East, I would suggest that the notice given to prize winners was insufficient. I was working in Scotland last week but could have rearranged my flights and made a couple of days of it in London if I had been informed sooner!

Hope that explains it.

It is a a very difficult call for Virgin I suppose.

If they give too much notice, then the prizes will appear on EBay, or be transferred by other means.

The downside of short notice is that people make alternative arrangements between entering and winning, as they don't always enter competitions expecting to win.

An easy way round this, I suppose would be to match the winners to their Flying Club accounts and insist that Flying Club cards or other ID is produced at the venue.
