ok - Just returned from a FAB trip, (working on the trip reports when I get the energy - Holiday stuff has me buried.)

However - looking on the VS website, neither myself nor my man have our miles credited (10884 each!) Our histories show the flights, but only the 60k miles each used for the upgrades, not the miles we earned from paying a LOT for the way overpriced econ fares so we could upgrade in the first place.

I tried the 'claim miles' button on the website, but I got an error saying we didn't fly those dates or flights (I know they're correct, I did it twice just in case I was hallucinating and being retarded....)

I called FC and the first gal I spoke with sounded as if she was working in her kitchen (pots dropping on the floor, and running water - I kid you not - and was too busy to pay attention to what I was saying or help me [V] .) So I called back, and got someone the polar opposite [^] who explained that it was most likely a code that was not put in at the time of booking, and I should have no problem having the miles credited, and to send an email to FC.

So, I just emailed our original e-ticket, screen snapshots of our flying club history, FC#s, and a photo of us in the bar at the CH. And verbose details of what the problem is.

Outbound was 22 Oct, return was 7 Nov.

Has anyone had a problem with this? I love the product, but I shouldn't have to fight for miles I earned. What if I hadn't had the foresight to check our accounts on the VS website?

Unfortunately, the problem of miles being awarded for upgraded tickets is well known and well documented on here.

It is a long standing issue, but the consensus seems to be that, often with a bit of perseverance, VS eventually get it right.

bardgal,I had a similar problem in August (Y fare upgraded with miles to a G)LHR-LAX.FC number in my booking etc but zilch miles for the Y fare. The reply to the missing miles claim form reply said I'd not travelled and I had!!(like yourself). I sent an e-mail to FC (date of flight, FC number and booking reference )and the miles were in my account a few days later. No problem with the return journey.I'm sure it will get sorted but I'd recommend an email to FC as suggested.

I just called FC and they applied the miles there and then whilst I was on the phone and showed on my online statement straight away, this was what I was told to do by FC when I made the booking.

When you upgrade from a mile and TP eligible fare to the next cabin the Flying Club system cannot cope, you always have to ring or mail to get the miles and TPs credited, do not anticipate it will be done, you have to tell VS.

Frankly, it's been like this for years, there's no excuse for not having had time to fix it on VS's part.

All is well now. However, I wish there was consistency with who you get on the other end of the phone. Today my account was locked (after I checked my man's then went to check mine to confirm the email I received stating our miles had been added to our accounts), and it was unlocked while I was on the phone. [y]

Last week when I first called to say 'where are my miles', neither of the reps would do anything over the phone and insisted I email, even stating they didn't have the power to make any changes to my account (WTF? Seriously? You're Flying Club Customer Service and cannot - don't have the technology/authority/whatever - to service my account? REALLY?) I'm all for employees telecommuting, but make sure all employees have access to do their job, and NO ONE should be doing dishes while simultaneously taking a call then blowing off the customer. I was floored and never EVER expected that from VSCS. [V]

Last year it was automatic, my miles appeared the next day after my flight (and I upgraded to UC with miles.) I'm sorry, but there is no excuse. It doesn't matter if I upgraded to another class, I still paid for econ, and flew the miles. I should get the miles flown, not ZERO without having to request they manually be added to my account. [n]

bardgal, I know the feeling. The FC staff are seriously in need of retraining... these days I simply ask for a manager, and tell the person when they ask what it's about, that it is a matter for their manager.

As for the requirement to have to cˆll VS and ask for the miles - That's something I didn't know. If I had, my flight in July 2005 would have been claimed... I'm a bit miffed now. I wonder if it's possible to get that flight still credited.

Technically, you can only claim for flights up to 6 months prior. If you had gone over this date slightly you might have had some joy seen as its the systems fault that it doesnt credit miles properly for upgraded flights but I'd say that a flight from over three years ago is pretty much out of the question.

Thanks,
Sarah

BA had exactly the same problem when you MFUed a WT+ ticket but it has now been fixed.
