Hello

Flying LGW - BGI - LGW in Upper in March. My partner is a very nervous flyer and always has to cling on to my hand during take off and landing. Given the upper class layout, what seats best facilitate this?!

The seat map online seems to indicate an LHR aircraft outbound and a LGW one inbound.

Cheers

mmmm the only ones I can think off if you happen to get a LHR aircraft would be 20 - 23 D and G, on the flight back, it really is not going to happen, the design of the suite stops this.

As Scrooge says, it is near impossible to do this, really can't think of a sensible option. Even in 6A&K on the LGW a/c which are the closest together you are still to far apart.

Hopefully she will be that impressed with UC and will have had a few glasses of champers so will totally forgot about wanting to hold your hand.

Agree with Neil and Scrooge it is virtually impossible.

My wife who is a very nervous flyer has found that sitting in the UCS has given her a better view and she feels a lot better than when she is in PE or E. The treatment received in UC will make her forget!

Enjoy the trip

That's actually a very good point, Mrs Scrooge had only flown in Y before we got married and she really had a hard time with it, any shaking of the plane would cause mass panic, this of course was cured by trips in BA NNNCW and UC, go figure, of course if it returns, then we are going to have issues, or I just fly alone and leave her behind [:w]

Hold hands in UC? Well of course you can! Mrs V and I have even been known to share the occasional peck on the cheek as well, though we'd draw the line at anything more than that; we are British, after all...

Neil, why the instant assumption that the partner is a 'she?' Is Luke hiding something under those M&S kecks?

I am half inclined to lock this topic right now, before it turns into another Neil bashing thread, but why spoil the fun [:w]

Neil, you are a bad bad person who jumps to conclusions way to quickly, the use of the phrase partner normally means same sex, at least to me, but what do I know.

Damn, my homophobic side is starting to come through! Plus my assumption was based on this site being almost 100% straight, hardly any gays on here[ii][:w][:D]

Just returned from Barbados and sat in 23 D & G on Config 4 Plane
20 - 23 D & G are in the middle so it is possible to remove the divider. Log on to Amend my Booking and take a look

Also on the return as it's a night flight there was the possibility of sleeping Head to Head[|)], You can hold hands if you want to

Enjoy your trip to Barbados

DW is a nervous flyer but loves UC, on take off she a hand will appear over the screen seperating for example 6A and 7A, which will be grapsed firmly by myself for the duration of takeoff and about 10000 ft of ascent, then I will release my hold and finally be able to turn the page on my book!

Those who believe that 'partner' refers to members of the same sex should take note that it is not always the case. In some cases I've seen people refer to their other halves as their husband/wife, while being of the same sex...

Although Neil did jump to a conclusion there, unmarried and cohabiting couples also often refer to their other halves as partners. In the Belgian and Dutch countries they also occasionally refer to their partners and mean their husbands/wives. So assuming one way or the other is dodgy at best. [:I]

Oh. And. There are a LOT more in the village than you expect... [:w]

Carry on. :-)
