Hi
we booked through Virgin Atlantic to fly to Orlando this March using some of or air miles flying in PE both journeys.

I rung Virgn the other day to make enquiries to go into the VRoom but was told' Oh no you are not booked with Virgin holidays so cannot go in there '[V]

I asked about the Gatwick lounge & was told that I have to wait until check in & then ask about going in there & would have to pay 30 which I don't have a problem with but can't understand why
1. We are banned from the VRoom &
2. Cannot arrange this until we book in.

Has anyone had experience of this? I do feel that we are being treated a bit like we have the plague because we did not book to go to Orlando with Virgin Holidays.[:?]

Also are we allowed to use the Twilight check in service the night before as we did not book with VH?

Thanx

The V-room is only for VH customers due to the size of it. They are also limited to only 3 hours before their flight at a cost of £15 per person (£17 as of march 09). Even then it is 'subject to availability'.

Same for the clubhouse. There is limited room there and if they have a higher level of Upper and AU members flying they have to limit access so as not to impact their experiences.

Twilight check-in is open to all regardless of class or booking.

Hope this helps.

I doubt that very much. The LGW Clubhouse is (over)due to close for re-furbishment anytime now and should nto be open in March. Regardless unless you are an UC or GLD FC pax then there is little hope of getting in on the day for ££ these days due to capacilty restrictions.

Just to note, LGW CH paid access is £35 not £30.

It is a little worse also at the moment as Barbados out of gatwick is using an LHR config plane which has the increased U/C config, and the clubhouse is now very full each day. I heard that LHR plane is staying with gatwick now longer than orginally planned, as they are seeing very good yields on this route. So the chances of being able to pay for entry are slim

Did you hear anything to indicate how long this might be for ?

Thanks

Can't say whether it's LHR config all the way through. But it is there on the 2nd and 16th May.

Interesting that they are considering closing the clubhouse for a longish period whilst benefiting from increased UC sales.

What is the alternate lounge option whilst the LGW CH is closed?

I think we should be careful here that we don't start a stampede. As far as I am aware, it has been mentioned that there was the possibility of the Clubhouse shutting in Jan but when someone asked about it , it was denied.

On one visit I had seen people measuring up but that was all.

Until its confirmed by premier, its nothing but a rumour and we all know what Virgins rumours are like (Vport LGW fleet, p/e seats etc)

A refresh would be great, but until its confirmed, I will be content with whats available.

David

(I would love someone to confirm it tho [:)])
