Looking at the ad again this evening on TV, previously only having seen it on the web site, I think it might have been a good idea to have the little girl who runs after the crew, shown as VS crew herself, 25 years on. Perhaps walking through the Clubhouse & then tending to passengers on board. That would have shown the airline as it is now, showcasing the UCS, Clubhouse & T3 Wing etc.
So in essence then the ad would have shown the impact the airline had 25 years ago, followed by the products they have nowÉÉÉ...
ÒWe're still hot, 25 years on !Ó
Or it could have had her typing on the VS facebook page about Chavs at LGW!!![}:)]
After finding out the campaign cost £6m surely they could have invested that type of cash in some new IFE on the LGW fleet and trimmed the marketing budget, what was the last estimate per aircraft? Somewhere around £2m a go wasnt it? Or at very least some new seats!
I just wonder what the CC think after having perks of the job trimmed back only to see this splashed all over the media, bit of a slap in the face really isnt it.
I really do wonder who makes these type of decisions in VS as they clearly need their heads read.
Substance before style i am afraid.

On a better note, there was a related 25th Anniversary advert in this weeks Economist about Upper Class. It was significantly better as it had a great shot over head of a person asleep in the UCS (therefore showing off the space).
It then mentions some of the other aspects of the UCS service that VS has. Even the disclaimer at the bottom was useful, advising the normal CDC caveat, but a helpful tip to book treatments at the CH in advance to avoid disappointment.
Much better than the TV ad that seems to be aimed at readers of the Sun, Daily Star and Sunday Sport.
I saw this advert as well and agree it has a bit more of a grown up feel to it. I was interested to note the stylized 25th Anniversary logo was nowhere to be seen, which in my mind is a bit of a shame.
I have now heard the accompanying radio adverts (Southern FM, Fox and Capital seem to be running them). The radio advert is pushing the cheaper fares to 'celebrate our 25th birthday'. The ethos of the radio advert is that they are still around when everyone said they would be like Laker and go bankrupt fast.
Personally, as I aired earlier, I have no problem with any of the new advertising. Its got a lot of us talking and, as Scrooge points out, makes a lot more sense than the BA advertising of late.

I do like the advert, and while I can appreciate the argument for spending the money on the aircraft, if people don't know about you - and despite SRG Virgin is still a niche brand - how will they get to sample what you do offer?
Add in that BA, Qantas, Emirates etc. are all advertising currently, I think this eye catching ad is money well spent.
Now, this is probably a weak argument, there are many reasons why Eos, MaxJet and Silverjet failed - but they all had brand new product. But how many people knew about them?

This is what the fans of Brighton FC think of the ad and VAA in general!!

The crew are just wishing that was our new uniform and that the girls were allowed to wear their hair down and nice red stilettos!
I did notice as a crew the other day that we all put a bit of extra wiggle in our walk whilst on the way to the gate en masse in an attempt to recreate the advert!

Some tidbits about the ad - as related by a Virgin marketing person at a little drinkypoos this week:
- the red shoes came from Aldi
- the exterior shots were done at Kempton Park racecourse
- the interiors at Ascot racecourse
- instead of Big Country they wanted a Smiths cover, but 1 out of 30 people who had to approve, declined
- under the table of the man eating his burger was a person squeezing goo out of a tube running through his shirt
I think there was more, but the wine took over!

There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles
There's a rather sexy new printed advert too for Premium Economy. I have to say, it's nice to see Virgin adverts again!
The image is the same as this one here but the text says 'We're not saying we're the best Premium Economy in the world, but we're certainly in the Top 1'.

I rather hoped he DID mean Aldi - too funny
Well Aldi, Aldo ... I thought he said Aldi but that may have been mind tricks! Either way, neither mean anything to me [:o)]

Yeah saw that on the Underground last weekend. Sure is nice to see VS ads on billboards again.
My favourite one from some years back, has to be when they were launching ORD first time round.
The billboard was simply a picture of baked beans & the text read something like É.
ÓNow flying to the Windy CityÓ

What I find fascinating about this whole thing is the way other airlines have adjusted their advertising...for example Qantas in last week's Sunday papers 'New Red Hot Offers....'
The best one though IMHO is Air New Zealand >>
Some airlines' Premium Economy only upgrade your legs. What do they do with your tastebuds?
Cheers

The NZ one has been out since before the VS campaign started. I have to say, it's an attractive ad.

Swoon.
The food or the fella?
