Hello my Guru friends,

Having trawled through a load of TR's, seat ratings and my long range ESP, I've decided to pester you all and get a definitive answer!

I'm days away from booking a sale UC rtn to the 'West Side' of the US. Going to head off in March from LHR to LAX then return from SFO after what hopes to be disgusting behaviour.... sorry.... I mean great time [:w]

So my LAX seat is a done deal as I've flown a few 346's. The SFO rtn leg, on the other hand, will be my 1st UC Jumbo trip(747-400 Config 4 it looks like).

My plan is to hit the bar for an hour, watch a movie, then sleep.

If anyone has a good recommendations I'd be eternally grateful [:D]

I would suggest somewhere in the A Zone, if you are travelling solo then probably 16/17, if you are in a couple then 12 (the good thing about 12 anyway is the little shelf in front of the suite that you can use to store your clothes/bit and pieces whilst you are sleeping.

Upstairs is the other option, that will probably be the quietest UC section, but haven't been in UC up there so can't comment.

If your looking for quiet go for upstairs.

I like 5K upstairs as there's nobody really behind you, just the wardrobe (I sat here on the trip back from SFO in August). Upstairs is nice and quiet too. 5K is also my favourite seat on the 346.

Given your proposed flight plan [;)] I too would suggest the upper deck, much less people movement so sleep should be less disturbed and the bar is right at the bottom of the stairs so not far to go.

It is always nice to go up to bed after a few drinks [:w]

Upper Deck, 3K or 4K.

UNLESS I'm on the same flight. [:p]

I do the 3K upstairs on the 747. Very quiet at night and totally dark.

If you decide to remain downstairs keep in mind that upper storage bins are not available for rows 6 and 7; they begin at row 8.

Chuck, on the LHR planes the rows 6&7 you refer to are now 12&14. These changed when they made the upper deck all UC

3/4, or even 7/8. You have more people walking in front of you in 3/4, to the bathroom, but the rear cabin seat upstairs is obviously closer to the galley, so that can be a pain sometimes, too.

3k or 4k. Not going into details, but trust me - they ARE the best seats on vs020
