Can I earn miles on Virgin Trains? I looked on their website but there is no mention of it. Seems obvious that I could earn miles if its part of the same brand.

Edit to thread title for clarity.......Nick

Of course, if you buy your tickets with the Virgin card you will get miles on all purchases... :)

Virgin Trains is majority-owned by Stagecoach... If it was the other way round I'm sure VG would make it possible... I guess it's because the tickets are not owned by VT as flight tickets are...

It does reiterate the point, however, that the branding exercise causes a LOT of confusion.

The 'use the credit card' thing is fine, but that goes for any card, on any service. Hell, I could even earn miles for spend on a 'lady of the night' if I used my card - so where does the brand loyalty/affiliation really come into play?

And under what circumstances would you get double points? ;)

There is a Virgin Trains frequent 'flyer' club called Traveller. Although not that easy to achieve membership (I think it is a minimum of 16 first class single journeys of over £50 each in a 3 month period), the benefits are OK - free first class travel for 2 at weekends, reserved car park spaces, free drinks in the lounge at Euston (dont get excited - clubhouse it is not!!), and reserved seats on trains for Traveller members.

Yes, minimum 560 quid spend within 3 months qualifies you for a year's Traveller membership. So over a year it works out to around 50 quid a month.
