LHR -JFK OLCI and seats together questions?

Hi all, I'm new here and i have a few queries so i just thought id ask you guys, your the pros after all [:)]

Im flying from LHR to JFK on Wednesday 25th Feb.

I booked a package with Virgin but through Thomas Cook holidays.

My first question is would i be able to check in online the day before as i didn't book direct with Virgin or would i have to arrange this all the airport.

My second one is just a query, there is only me and a friend going on the flight, as there is only 2 of us, is there a good probability of sitting together.

Hi and welcome to V-flyer.

If you have your PNR which is a six digit combination of numbers and letters then you can check in on line and also choose your seat providing the 60% of seats available for pre-allocation has not been reached. These will become available at OLCI and if your friend is on your eticket then you should be able to seek seats together.

If you can't find your PNR I suggest a call to Virgin Atlantic

Is this your first trip to NYC? You and youe friend will have a fab time. If you want I can send you some hints and tips that i've put together for friends.

Don't forget that you and your friend will need to be ESTA approved before you can fly. You need to apply no later than three days before you fly but the sooner the better.

Use this link to the US Embassy - http://www.usembassy.org.uk/
and click on the ESTA link on the right hand side.

Check out the seat maps on here and make sure you try and pick the best seats in your cabin !

It's my 1st trip to NYC on 19th March. Would it be possible for you to send some of your hints and tips to me?

Also, don't forget to join Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club, as you can collect miles for each flight. If you advise Thomas Cook of your Flying Club number, you will be able to view your booking via the Virgin Atlantic website even if you don't have the booking reference, as it looks for flights belonging to your frequent flyer number.

After you sign up, then invite your friend to join. That way you'll get bonus miles for the recommendation

New York is amazing, I went there last year for the first time and loved it. It's big, brash, bold, ugly, beautiful and amazing all at the same time.

DO visit Central Park - it sounds a cliche and I was very nearly not going to go because I thought 'We have parks here' - but it's just lovely. Grand Central Station is well worth a vist for the amazing architecture and it has a few nice bars too. I'm just thinking of all the places and sights we'd seen - New York just has a certain something that calls you back. My favourite thing was all the roof top water tanks, I don't know why, I just loved them.

Ive already managed to do my online ESTA form but thank god ive had a read through here or i wouldnt have known that i still had to do the visa form onboard.
