Infant in UC

Hi there, can anyone help me with this question? I am flying UC in June with my newborn son. He'll be 3 months old. How will he be seated in the plane, as there are no bulkheads to attach the skycot to as one would in a forward facing seat. Does he sit on the foot rest portion in a cot? Or his own seat?

Also on return we're flying on a 747, do they allow baby's on the upper deck, I've always found it quieter up there, so perhaps because of that the answer is a no.

OK the first question will be is have you paid for your son to have his own seat or not?

The second question is what flight/aircraft is your outbound flight?

In answer to your last question, babies are permitted on the Upper Deck with the exception of the exit rows - however be aware that there are no skycot positions upstairs on the LHR 744's.

I think I paid for a separate ticket for him as in the booking it's down as an adult ticket and a infant under 2, I think the ticket price was with all taxes £200 or so, does that sound right?

Outbound flight is VS001 to Newark. Inbound is VS002

OK so if you have paid for him to have his own seat, then are are infant seats on board that the crew can fit for your son to sit in. If he has one of these seats, then he can remain in his own seat for take off, landing and when the seat belt sign is on.

If he doesn't have his own seat, then your son will have to sit on your lap for take off/landing and all other times that the seatbelt sign is on. The skycot positions are located at 8G on the A346, 1D on the A343 and 20DG on the B744. You will need to request these seats at check in IIRC.

From looking at the fare, I believe that you have just paid for an infant fare and therefore he will not have his own seat on the flight though ISTBC.

Just expect every-time you get baby settled into the skycot, and you sit back to chill-out... the seatbelt signs come on - so out baby comes again and you're back to square one!
Given the price I would suggest Tink is right, but you'll have plenty of room in the seat if only 3mths.
if you've not flown with the ankle bitter before- strongly suggest a change of light clothes (top & bottoms) for you as well as baby- as if it could happen it usually does especially if sitting in lap as well.!

Yes get to see quite a few adults walking off the aircraft in sleepsuits as their other clothes were covered in baby sick! [:$]

We recently travelled with a 10month old in UC(downstairs and upstairs). As infant price is charged he will be on your lap for take off and landing. The beauty of UC is that you soon can convert the seat and put the baby down to sleep (if they so wish)[:p].The crew were very helpful on both occasions and in our case seemed genuinely pleased to see the baby in UC.

Relax and go with the flow. Try not to worry about what anybody thinks.Once baby is settled enjoy and relax.

As others have said, a price of 200 quid for an infant means you'll be sharing a suite, but with a 3 month old you'll have acres of room.

Unless things have changed in the last 3 years, you'll get a seat belt for junior that will attach onto your own for take off and landing. As NH mentioned, the skycots are great, but you will have to hoik the wee one out every time the seatbelt sign goes on. For night flights, at least, if you have him strapped to you in the suite you can avoid this palaver and sleep on undisturbed (hopefully)...

Yup, happened to my wife twice, both times en-route to SFO when I was working out there. She has one of the old red/purple suits, would have been way cooler if she had managed to get a Ninja Suit to keep.

if he's booked as an infant under 2 he won't have his own seat, but like others have said you'll have lots of room in an UC seat. I know tinkerbelle mentioned the infant care chairs, but if I remember rightly these don't fit onto the upper seats.

You don't remember rightly as they can be used in Upper Class.

The VS child seats that are onboard now have been in existence for about 18 months and have always been able to fit into all seats (Upper, Premium and Economy) - the exception being seats at exit rows for obvious reasons.

Either you are incredibly naive or else just having us on. If you are as professional as you say you are, you would surely be going back to check your facts at the very least rather than dismissing it as something you 'probably just misheard'
