I am a member of Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer club, which like most others has a Silver and Gold tier. However, beyond this is what SQ call their PPS club. Like Flying Club, it is sector based with points counting to status, but only from Business and First Class travel.

Once you are a member you get all the normal waitlist, lounge access etc privileges, but also absolute priority recognition, first choice of the best seats on the aircraft (i.e can only be reserved at ticketing by PPS members) and a host of other benefits such as 10% off anything in the in flight duty free catalogue. This year they even sent me a birthday card and a present, both of which arrived on the actual day signed by the UK station manager.

I have been a Gold card holder on BA and Virgin, but never have I felt as valued a customer as SQ make me feel. Considering the close links between VS and SQ, do you think VS should adopt something similar?

This is in no way a criticism of The Flying Club, of which I am still a happy member, just food for thought.

Cheers

Interesting thread - before my time on v-flyer so new to me - although I had heard a couple of brief mentions in other threads.

Would anyone care to allude to the perks? [}:)]

I can probably guess but would anyone like to comment on why this is kept such a secret?

Perks? You're looked after when you fly, and the crew will know that you're a very regular traveller. There i snothing published or written down benefits wise - there is a person at HQ that will ensure that co-ordinate all the arrangements at VS's end (and she's a really nice person who is very highly regarded)

Why is it secret? I wouldn't say its secret, its just not talked about as it affects such a tiny proportion of people, less than 0.001% of the registered Flying Club base. Kind of like AmEx Centurion - it was a long time before it was even mentioned on the website in the UK (and its still not mentioned on the US site)- again it affects only a small group of people.

Thing to remember is that Gold is great anyway - if you are flying a lot anyway, you'll get to know the people at the airport very quickly, and for me (and from reading the initial post) it is the personal touch that counts. Oh and the various VS parties make me feel a valued customer... :)

Thanks,
Richard
