A couple of questions about VS:

1) For the headphones that connect to the IFE, are they like 2 jacks, or 1? Should i bring my 1 to 2 jack adaptor so i can use my own headphones?

2) On VS aircraft that are equipped with telephones, do they have data ports to hook up my laptop? and what kind of payment methods do they use? Will they take my "Bellsouth global calling card"?

Thx in adv.- Joe

Hi Joe,

1) - They use a regular 3.5mm single stereo jack. I think (it's been a while since I've used the free ones!) that the Upper Class headphones use a second plug to draw power for the noise cancelling, but that's not necessary if you're plugging your own headphones in.

2) (Unless I'm getting confused with AC), Yes, they do have data ports on some aircraft. Although, to be honest, at the $9/minute rate they charge (to your credit card) I'd be concerned about using it to surf the Internet for any period of time... ;)[:0]

I don't think they'll accept your Bellsouth Calling Card - it's billed straight to the credit card you swipe through the handset.

I can confirm preiffer's comments for the A346. For the A340 the phone and internet service is not available mostly.

For your laptop power you will need an adaptor, which VS supply on board. However the selection cannot of course cover every possible type of power supply, and indeed they have never had one for my toshiba.

Okay, thanks for the replies.

Sailor: You mean like you can just rent them on board or something? Or do you have to buy it like duty-free? How much are they?

AFAIK the laptop leads are loaned free of charge, BUT it is probably the only way to ensure you get one that fits your machine, is to take your own on board.

I think, Targus do a kit that is almost universal.. a nib for every occasion [:I]

Oh ok, thanks. Just curious about the power. They don't even have power in a LGW 747 economy seat haha.

VS don't have laptop power in ANY economy seats, and only the planes that have V-Port have empower in premium economy seats.

And in some of the PE empowered seats you have to share the power with your neigbour - possibly cause for arguements me thinks.

Of course there is a perfectly sensibly alternative to resolve the in-flight power and surfing issues - get on plane, dose up with 2 x the complementry grog (assuming you are in PE or UC, and if not hit the duty free before getting on), grab all the complementry booze you can get your hands on for the next 2 hours, fall into stupor for rest of flight. I am sure this is a better alternative to watching the damn computer screen all flight, and it resolves all sorts of other problems like fear of lying, jetlag....

Is there telephones on SuperNova aircraft. On my recent UC trip to Barbados couldn't find one??

Thanks,

Tom

There are phones - just not in seat - you normally find them on the bulkheads
