The breakdown of 1100 Cabin Crew, 300 Flight deck and only 100 office staff will go some way in redressing the balance to an organisation that is already apparently top heavy with admin staff.

According to the 21st Birthday facts "the total UK office headcount is 6,799".

That seems an awful lot of people that never leave the ground and don't maintain the planes :)

Sounds good that they are investing and expanding, just such a shame it is at the cost of an amazing team of staff they already have in the US.

Good luck to them ... i'm sure they will be over subscribed for many of those positions!

Well they are going to need a few:D extra CC for the 380's when they get them aren't they. what shall we say 2 extra per plane;) As to over 6000 non-flying office staff what do they do all day? It can't be answer phones because most of that is done in India! And not very well at that (see other threads).

I have a feeling that particular 21st birthday "fact" might have been worded incorrectly. (Although I stand to be corrected, obviously).

If you check out the press release on va.com, "Virgin Atlantic currently employs approximately 8500 staff worldwide.". I can't believe that of the 8,500 staff worldwide, 6,000 of them are office based, in the UK [:0][?]

Based on the following:

343 (9 a/c) - 13 FAs
346 (11 a/c) - 15 FAs
744LGW (7 a/c) - 16 FAs
744LHR (6 a/c) - 18 FAs

and rotations that require about 7 sets of FAs per a/c - I would guess VA has around 3500 FAs and around 500 flightdeck crew.

So for every 346 they need to hire another 120 staff.
