I should explain a bit more...
In the Sunday paper i read, there is a book coming out tomorrow called "Air Babylon" by "anonymous".
It tells the backroom story by a manager (anonymous) based at Heathrow of a medium sized airline operating long haul flights.
One comment made was about the airlines stewies, about and I quote "seemingly trivial matters are ruthlessly policed. To start with there are approved hairstyles for air hostesses-such as bobs French pleats or ponytails and a ban on obviously dyed hair. Soke airlines have a choice of five or so nail varnish colours. We, like Emerates, allow only red and only one type of red at that"

From th4ese comments, I was trying to work out what the airline was, and I just wondered if it was the airline we so love :D

Published tomorrow - interesting. (I wonder if the UC wardrobe was really intended to be the "corpse cupboard"? [:0] )

Amazon.com has the hardback for £7.xx, and the paperback for £10.99. Isn't that the wrong way round...?! ;)

Actually....
That's one of tyhe things that peaked my interest as it were [i]

In the same review it says about Visible Panty lines "With those regulation tight skirts, it's hard not to have a VPL. Some wear thongs, some hostesses wear girdles, but the majority (my bold imprint) don't bother with knickers at allI remember a friend telling me her manager made her pick something off the floor to check if he could see anything through the split in her skirt"

I was tempted to just now - to read on the 43 on Thursday, but the "will Amazon deliver it on time" thought sprung into my head just before I hit the confirm button.

Here's hoping Books Plus @ LHR come good...!

Hmm. I looked at the paperback (hardbacks are a pain in hand luggage ;) ) and it said "Estimated dispatch date for this item: 2 Aug 2005 - 16 Aug 2005" [:0]

So, I've ordered the hardback... Same dispatch date as you, so here's hoping :D (Thanks for the heads-up [y] )

(If not, I'll see you at about 17,999 ft... ;) )

Almost finished reading it...... (Air Babylon) I too was going to save it for the flight but I couldn't resist starting it:D It really has opened my eyes about what goes on[:0] Having seen the idiots on Airport and Airline, I am more than ever convinced that it does not pay to upset ANY airline staff, because if one doesn't stitch you up they 'know someone who can [:p]) A highly entertaining read......

According to this months Professional Beauty magazine VS will be using Cosmeceuticals as its skincare range for aircrew.

I'm not sure about nail varnish, but for lips:

"Virgin aircrew staff will also be using id Bare Escentuals as part of their uniform, incorporating Golden Red, Classic Red, and Sheer Cherry lip gloss as the madatory in-flight colours.

Well when i worked for a particular airline back in late 90`s we had to wear a certain type of make up brand along with certian shades of red lipstick & nail varnish. In fact they gave you a hand book on how to apply this as well! As if a woman needs told how to apply make up!!!! :D

I have read about the 'book' in the Air Babylon book? I didn't think the rules were that strict! But given that the CC are 'the face of the airline' I suppose they really need to be 'uniform:D' in appearances.

You'd be surprised. ;)

Mind you, sometimes its the boys who need the help! A bit of foundation can do wonders for the skin - particularly when flying all the time. But if your going to use it please learn how to apply it and appropriate skin tone colour selection. On one of my earlier flights there was one boy Cabin Crew who well he was the colour of this smilie - ;) - it wasn't a good luck.
