I have £4,000 of my hard earned pay sitting in my bank account. VS are not getting it (LHR-SYD) until this issue is resolved.

Indeed, I have already started exploratory investigations into BA's frequent flyer programme (who are also £700 cheaper at the moment)

Not going to take any drastic action over next two weeks, and will see how this unfolds....

I will surely miss the hot breakfast before landing. I know you can get something in revivals but as i am normally travelling with people in W/Y they cannot come into the facility.. therfore, i feel like i have to miss revivals because it's not fair on my colleagues.

Yes, i know it's personal choiec and i could go in, but i am still not impressed. Will be interested to see what SRB's office have to say

Being a bit impatient I couldn't resist another call to Premier team this evening. Apparently this service will not apply to the whole cabin - it is an extension of the Snooze Zone service. I was told "you can have a choice of the Good Night service or full Freedom menu."

They aren't 100% sure which part of the cabin it will apply to yet, but the Snooze Zone is usually row's 1 - 5 and the GNS will probably be offered in those seats and probably some more.

So it sounds like it is essentially the Snooze Zone rejigged a little, on more flights. If this is indeed what it is then I do think it is an excellent extension to the product.

I am not take this as gospel just yet, final confirmation will come after 4th August when they actually start using it. But it is looking more hopeful.

If this is true, then its a good idea, a choice is better than compulsary.
Any staffers on here say different?

maybe the phone calls have woken somebody up a little,I agree with the idea of a larger snooze zone on these flights, but not the whole cabin

Just out of interest I checked prices on VS and NZ for oct 5th returning the 12th on VS 23/24,got a price of $5932 from VS....$4029 from NZ,so for $1900 less you get the UCS and a real meal plus you can still get milage for a real UC flight

Given every other snippet of official info we've gathered so far has led us to believe there were only 3 choices (nowt, cold or hot supper tray), this may actually be a re-think of the product based on customer opinion - not least of which has been aired very publically in this thread! ;)

If this is the case Pete, i would definately agree with you. In my phone call this evening straight away the agent was able to say I would have a choice of GNS or Full Freedom menu. She only had to go away and consult with others about which area of the cabin the GNS would apply to, this is a very new service and she commented that they were only receiving training in it today.

So lets not count any chickens yet, but signs are positive.

And if, as you say Pete, this has been a change in service following public opinion then I think this can only reflect very positively on Virgin. They have developed what they thought would be a welcomed service change, and I think they may have been quite taken back by the response and it looks like have made changes appropriately. After the UC food fiasco this really is very welcome, and of course they will be able to offer the best of both worlds. A good night sleep for those who want it, and for those who want to enjoy the special service and experience that comes with flying Upper Class they can.

I look forward to hearing from Crew their experiences of it, and of course the TR's after it is launched.

I may be being a little less crytical here because I will probably never have to use this service, but I really can't see the problem.

You get your meal as usual, the only thing is that your starter comes with your main meal, if I didn't want this then I would kindly request for my main meal to be kept warm somewhere in the galley until I was ready for it ( I'm sure the crew would oblige). You're not forced to go to sleep and you can watch IFE for as long as you want and when you want a drink or a snack all you have to do is press the call button. OK breakfast sounds a bit dodgy, but virgin is the best has said that there are still few people around the bar at any one time during the morning. Obviously we would prefer to have our dinner in bed and i'm sure if enough people complain, VS will change back to doing that. Also on the plus side you get a new LHR CH and a new UC menu. I can see why people would be concerned if their choice was being limited dramatically, but I don't think it is. As fozzyo said this is based on public opinion so can only be good for VS. Just my opinion [:I].

I think I've found a solution to the lack of CH in LAX for J & D passengers on the GNF 24...

"As your limo driver collects you for delivery to the airport, you will be offered an in-car meal as part of our innovative new "Good Night Flight" service. A meal selection card will be provided with a choice of 5 unique meals, based on customer feedback from our top flyers:

1. Big Mac + fries
2. McChicken Sandwich + fries
3. Fillet-o-fish + fries
4. Chicken McNuggets + fries
5. Quarter Pounder with cheese + fries

All of the above can have bright green mashed potato substituted for fries, subject to the appropriate change fee being collected.

Your driver will collect your food, freshly prepared, from our licensed meal providers and allow you to enjoy your pre-flight meal from the comfort of the back seat. You'll arrive at the airport feeling sick, drowsy and ready for the crew to put you to bed."

(to put everyone's minds at rest, I DID just make that up... ;) )

You know, that was actually quite convincing until I got to the last couple sentences, the first few sounded like the beginning of a real VS press release. I guess we all know how gullible I am now.

Fozzyo, I hope the people you talked to are right, it sounds like a much better idea than making the entire UC cabin the GNF. If so, it seems most of you won't be switiching airlines afterall.

Yes, I too hope it is only offered to certain parts of the cabin.
I do, however, like the sound of waffles for breakfast. I don't remember seeing them on the normal menu, or maybe I just haven't looked as I always go straight for the bacon roll!!!!!!!!:D

A few more answers.

On all flights we done trials on we had very positive feedback both from crew and customers

JNB and HKG the service went down well. Not too sure about the LAX 24

Most customers went ofr turndown then cold then hot, JNB was hot then turndown then cold.

There will be extra food on the longer flights.

As for the customers with a baby. We will save you what you want and give it you when you want. If the lights are out though it will be dark.

Breakfast brought to you if you have a baby no problem just ask the crew.

Crew will always be present in the aisles not just for customers but also for safety reasons.

GNS will be on the LHR-HKG sector not the HKG-SYD sector look at the times.

Premier team are wrong there is no full freedom menu. I have the menu here and its not freedom. The freedom service is no longer on flights after 9pm. As one of the service training team I know this for a fact. Premier team need to speak to someone in Quality and procedures at concorde 2000. They know all about it.

Thats part of why I spent my money to fly VS to SYD. Also, can't find any information about the freedom menu on virgin's website now.

VS don't seem to be learning any lessons about communication do they?

Premier Team! Attention!
Take aim, just up from the little toe....gently....gently, lovely boys.
Ready for shooting in foot.

You all still have the choice of a full 3 course meal if you wish. Only instead of it being on the A/C it will be in the lounge JFK,JNB,HKG,LHR all have chefs and a full menu. In the LHR clubhouse it will all be silver service.

And if your schedules don't permit you to make the clubhouse? You starve? The ticket we pay for is for the flight, the ancillary benefits are NOT the main point.

For what I've paid I want Silver Service in the Clubhouse, then maybe a three course meal on the plane, say 3 hours in.

Then maybe a slight doze.

Can't we have a bit of luxury on air travel again, why does it always have to be streamlined business efficency..
