I have always thought that the LHR club house was a really nice an relaxing place, with lots of different 'zones'; library, restuarant, upper level conservatory. I am really looking forward to seeing the new club house as it sounds spectacular. I am flying out in november through LHR and will ensure I arrive as early as possible to have a good look and take advantage. (I bet the staff hate early arrivers!)

My experience has been the opposite - I'm sure it can get quite boring in there with no customers ;)

Anyone know if it will be possible to prebook in the new club house?

See the link Foz provided above:

"To prebook treatments call 020 8897 5055 or email [email protected] - youÕll be floating before you even leave the ground."

any update on the opening date? I've got a flight booked for July 31st (so will be too early but will get what is hopefully my last trip to the old CH) but should be flying out to Delhi on the 20th so hopefully it will be open by then?

Where did this come from? That means I'll miss it by 6 days [V]

On the pre-booking issue, do note this very vital snippet:

"The prebooking service is an exclusive benefit for Upper Class passengers and Flying Club Gold members. If you are bringing a guest to the Clubhouse with you, they are welcome to book use the spa but can only book their desired treatments directly at the Clubhouse on the day of departure."

(By the way - one thing to focus on now we know Phase 1 is opening soon - what's going to be in Phase 2??[:0][:p] )

I thought the VS website used to say Phase 2 opening on the 29th December, now it just says later. I really really/ want it to be the 29th - anyone have any clues?

Gave me a bit of a surprise too - I thought the aim was 4 Aug to coincide with all the other stuff (GNS, New Menu). Spoke to premier team today, and all they would commit to was "I am sure it will be by the end of August". So there may be some truth in the 28th. I have to say, last time I was at LHR it looked far from finished to me. Lots of decorating to do, and the snagging lists on these projects are usually pretty long (and I am sure VS would not shoot themselves in the foot by opening it with workmen still having to troop in and out).

Fingers crossed that it does open in August and nothing scuppers the plans, as we are planning to fly out of LHR on 10th September (in fact, I've been on the phone this morning and reserved the flights, just need final confirmation with friends before securing booking - now where's the little 'excited' smilie? :D)

Do we know if we can only have one treatment in the new clubhouse? I could spend a weekend there instead of my usual trip to the spa before my holidays lol

Loved that "exclusive benefit" - I would have assumed that 80+% of the people in the lounge were UC or Au... or perhaps this is a hint that Lounge Access is to be made more available?

Come the completion of Phase II they are near enough doubling the size of the lounge. Naturally i hope, and assume, that means they aren't doubling guest capacity.

Though will be very interesting to see what they have planned for it.

Also sounds like a return to guests of UC/AU card Pax being able to have a treatment again.

Well the CH may be doubled but it may not mean a freer policy of access - how many new flights are there to contend with? Does the new CH have to last until the A380s come on stream ... and as Fozzyo says who knows what'll be in it, how about a bowling alley for one [:p]
