The title says it all really. [8D]

We are going to Oz / NZ next Feb and I am having a bit of a daft five minutes and thinking that instead of going all the way on SQ, we will go as far as SIN on SQ and then do a bit of a tour with Air Asia and Virgin Blue.

I can get Air Asia to Bali and then Virgin Blue for the rest of the flights. I know Air Asia are an LCC, but we are prepared to rough it for one leg.

Is Bali worth visiting for a couple of days, as a stopover? Anyone got any tips / recommendations, please?

Even if is 'don't do it'. [8D]

Thanks

Nick

Do it! - We went to Bali last November for the first time. We kept using it as a 'springboard' to go where we wanted - Komodo, Alor Islands, East Timor -spent 4 nights there in 3 different stays

We thought Bali was going to be 'spoilt' from everything we heard, but we quite liked what we saw (in a partly Cheesy way)

After coming back home, we're now thinking of going back to Bali to see some more! - we've heard (although I've not been) that the north of the island is relatively unspoilt

Let me know if you are firm on this idea, I will put you in contact with a friend of a friend who owns a place down there.

My friend is the owner of La Villa Marbella (which we all love) and he speaks very highly of this place, which says a lot.

Being members of the LHW club, we stayed at the Karma Jimbaran on one 'passing through' which was nice but a bit soul-less. It probably works better with a group bigger than ours (me & Mrs). The next two times we stayed at the Legian - can thoroughly recommend - wonderful place!

You have to get used to the fact that a good meal in Bali with wine is now about the same price as the same meal in London - bit of a shock for us

Apart from that, I can't think what else to say but 'go'!

Thanks Peter and Scrooge.

Flights now booked and Bali is a 98% certainty once I get the Air Asia / Virgin Blue legs sorted. [y]

It will just be a couple of days en route to Brisbane, to have a look round and see if we want to spend a longer time there.

Be prepared for a lot of Aussies. To call it the Australian version of Majorica is a bit harsh but it is popular. Although Nick I am sure there will be no riff raff (English and Australian) in the type of place you stay in!

Sorry to break it to you but DJ are an LCC as well! Are they offering PE across the network now?

Thanks Will.

I did realise DJ are a LCC, but the trips on them aren't too long, so I can put up with that.

I didn't realise Bali was the Aussie Majorca!! [:0] I know very little about it. It is just somewhere that we fancy visiting and it is a convenient stop over between KL and Oz.

I have been reading tripadvisor and fancied the Four Seasons - till I saw the price per night. [:w]

We have plenty of time to get it sorted, so I will keep researching.

Thanks for that HG - you aren't selling it very well. [:D][8D]

You are right though, with my little knowledge of the place, word association Bali = Bomb!

Unfortunately - the world we live in makes it so that no trip is 100% safe - we will give it a run though. Blitz mentality and all that. [;)]

Sorry NN

I am not here to sell Bali - it is lovely but security is our no 1 priority and there are as many more places for you to visit which are deemed to be safe and beautiful. Balai willalways be beautiful but safety is not always assured.

Regards,

HG
